    • A planetary gear reduction system has a sun gear, a plurality of planet gears, a ring gear, and a planet carrier. The planet carrier has a first plate supporting one ends of planet shafts supporting the planet gears, a second plate supporting the other ends of the planet shafts, and a cylindrical drum connecting the first and second plates. The first plate has first portions supporting the one ends of the planet shafts; second portions connecting the first plate to the drum, the first and second portions being provided alternately in a circumferential direction; first cutouts each defined between the neighboring first and second portions, the first cutouts each extending radially inwardly from a circumferential edge thereof to a position adjacent a circle passing centers of the planet shafts; and second cutouts each defined radially inward of the second portion and between the neighboring two first portions, the second cutouts each extending radially inwardly from a first region outside the circle and a second region inside the circle.

    • Provided is a planetary gear reducer including: a sun gear fixed concentrically to a power input shaft; a plurality of planet gears meshing with the sun gear; a ring gear meshing with the planet gears; a planet carrier configured to support a plurality of planet shafts, each of which is a rotational axis of a corresponding one of the planet gear, and to output revolution of the plurality of planet gears as first power; and a cylindrical support connected to the ring gear, non-rotatable relative to the ring gear, and configured to output rotation of the ring gear as second power. The cylindrical support includes, at one part along the direction of a central axis, a flexible structure which is curved radially inward and has a V-shaped longitudinal section. This configuration improves rigidity and prevents misalignment without increasing the weight of the gear reducer.

    • An engine includes an EGR apparatus which refluxes a portion of exhaust gas from an exhaust manifold to an intake manifold as EGR gas. A differential pressure sensor detects a differential pressure between intake pressure of the intake manifold and exhaust pressure in the exhaust manifold. The differential pressure sensor is mounted on a head cover which covers an upper portion of a cylinder head. An intake pressure taking-out passage which is in communication with the intake manifold is formed in the cylinder head. An intake pressure introducing passage which is connected to the differential pressure sensor is formed in the head cover. The intake pressure taking-out passage and the intake pressure introducing passage are in communication with each other.

    • A work machine equipped with an automatic hammering function is capable of preventing breakage of the hammer caused by blank firing. Hydraulic oil fed to a hydraulic breaker at the distal end of a work machine is controlled by first and second spools. Operating an operation lever so as to contract single rod type boom cylinders to press the hydraulic breaker against an object to be crushed. Head-side pressure and rod-side pressure of the boom cylinders are respectively detected by pressure sensors. Any one of switches is used to switch the mode of automatic hammering operation between an automatic hammering inhibiting mode and an automatic hammering authorizing mode. In the automatic hammering authorizing mode, a controller controls the first and second spools of the hydraulic breaker so as to open them only when head-side pressure and rod-side pressure of the boom cylinders are in a given range of pressing force.

    • A control unit for a work machine that allows automatically obtaining optimal operability even when the weight of a work arm in the work machine is changed. In a work machine where at least a part of a work arm to be operated by a fluid pressure actuator is provided so as to be replaceable, a control unit for a work machine includes: a pilot-operated control valve that controls the fluid pressure actuator; a proportional solenoid valve that pilot-controls the pilot-operated control valve by a pilot control pressure according to an electrical signal corresponding to a manual operation amount; a measuring means that measures a weight of at least the part of the work arm; and a controller that converts characteristics between the manual operation amount and the pilot control pressure of the proportional solenoid valve to characteristics according to the weight of the work arm measured by the measuring means.
