    • A communication system (1) is provided with a plurality of communication apparatuses (11-15) for performing communication by using a power line (4), the communication system sharing the power line with other communication systems (2, 3). In the communication system, at least one of the plurality of communication apparatuses has: an region detecting device (101) for detecting a communicable region that can be used by the communication system, from a plurality of communicable regions divided at least by time; a declaring device (104) for declaring at least one portion of the detected communicable region, as a communicable region that is used by the communication system, to the other communication systems; and a notifying device (105) for notifying the plurality of communication apparatuses of the declared communicable region, each of the plurality of communication apparatuses performing communication in the notified communicable region.

    • In a wireless LAN system according to the present invention, when a first communication station transmits packets to a second communication station, the first communication station can select a first method in which the second communication station returns first transmission-confirmation information to the first communication station for each packet that the second communication station receives, and a second method in which the second communication station returns, in response to the request of the first communication station, second transmission-confirmation information to the first communication station for plural received packets. The first communication station selects either one of the first method and the second method, based on a number k of packets to be acknowledged by the second transmission-confirmation information. With this arrangement, in the wireless LAN system capable of using plural kinds of transmission confirmation information, transmission confirmation information capable of improving transmission efficiency is selected.

    • An apparatus for informing a holder or user of the apparatus of a predetermined state by providing a vibratory sensation to the holder or user. The vibrations produced by the apparatus produces in a manner so as to prevent substantial movements of the apparatus even when left unattended. The apparatus includes a motor attached to a housing and a controller for actuating the motor to rotate a shaft. The controller actuates the motor to rotate the shaft in forward and reverse directions alternately at predetermined intervals in response to reception of an incoming signal.
