    • A turning arrangement (1) for a printing machine comprises a transfer drum (2) fitted between a first (4) and a second counter-pressure cylinder (6), beneath which there is a register cylinder (16) with a plurality of suction apertures (20) holding the sheets (10) which, after the grippers (8a, 8b) have opened, conveys the sheets (10) in register into an intermediate storage system (19) in which the sheets (10) are temporarily stored in substantially tensioned form on a first sheet guide (24) fitted with blower nozzles (22).     • The invention relates to a method of powdering a printed surface of a printed material. The aim of the invention is to improve, without the need for sophisticated techniques, the uniformity with which powder can be applied to a printed surface of a printed material, the effect of the gas stream, used during powdering, on the motion of the substrate being kept as small as possible and undesirable powder deposition being avoided to the greatest extent. The powdering method proposed calls for powder particles to be brought by means of a gas stream on to the surface which is moved relative to the powdering device, thus accelerating the particles (3) which are taken out of the gas stream by deflecting the stream with respect to the direction of motion of the particles (3). The invention is suitable for use with printing presses.

    • A gripper system for a machine that processes printing material sheets has a gripper with a first clamping surface and a gripper pad, for cooperating with the gripper, with a second clamping surface. One of the two clamping surfaces is formed with a surface relief. The clamping surface which has the surface relief is placed in such a way that, when a narrow printing material sheet is gripped, the clamping surface is covered by the sheet only within a subregion of the clamping surface and, when it grips a broad printing material sheet, it is covered by the latter beyond the subregion. The surface relief is structured differently within the subregion than outside the subregion, in that it is provided within the subregion with an antideformation structure which protects the narrow printing material sheet from excessive clamping deformation.
