[Classes 20(iv) and 87(i)] In a wall built up of quoin and stretcher blocks, the length of the longer outer face of a quoin block c is three times, and that of a stretcher block a four times, that of the shorter side of a quoin block which is equal to the thickness of a block plus the width of the wall cavity. The quoin blocks serve to close the wall cavity at door and window openings z. Wall-junction blocks d, fractional quoin and stretcher blocks, bevel-ended eaves blocks and curved blocks are also provided. The blocks are provided with circular holes b and corresponding semi-circular recesses b to receive cement. Grooves b are provided for wall ties h. Solid coping blocks having depending metal hooks to engage the holes b are also provided.

Means for feeding bar or rod stock' to a cropping or shearing machine comprises a trolley 1 movable on rails 3 and provided with parallel channel members 10, 11, 12 for supporting the stock and similar mem. bers 15, 16, 17, which are moved in such a manner that the stock is moved step-by-step along the members 10, 11, 12 and delivered one bar at a time to a roller conveyer 29, which conveys it to the cropping machine. The bars 15, 16, 17 are mounted on shafts 18, 19 by means of eccentrics 20 and the shafts are driven by a motor 21 through chain- and-sprocket gearing. Counterweights 25 are provided on each spindle to prevent overrunning of the shafts and eccentrics by the stock bars. The roller conveyer is adjusted vertically by turning a spindle 34 by means of the mechanism shown in Fig. 7. A hand wheel 33 has a universal-joint connection with a threaded spindle 46 which is in engagement with the forked end 47 of an arm 35 fast on the spindle 34. Arms 135 secured to the ends of the spindle, Fig. 3, are connected by links 36 to a toggle device 37. The lower link of each toggle is connected to the trolley 1 and the upper link veyer is mounted on pivoted arms 39 which to the frame of the roller conveyer. The concarry a counterweight 40.

The carriage is moved along the rails by means of ropes connected to winches on the deck.

Preferably there are a plurality of such layers and the titanium film layer is disposed between adjacent fibrous layers. Body armor formed from the composites have the desired resistance to knife stabs, ice pick stabs and ballistic projectiles.

The fabrics are formed of high-strength fibers consolidated with from about 7% to about 15% by weight of an elastomeric matrix composition, and in combination with protective layers of a polymer film on each surface of the fabric. The fabrics achieve a significant improvement in fragment resistance compared to fabrics of the prior art, while also maintaining excellent ballistic resistant properties.
