    • A new and distinct Acer palmatum (Japanese Maple) tree discovered as a seedling within progeny resulting from a collection of bulked seeds, taken from several varieties within the species, which is distinguished particularly by its characteristic varied expression of leaf shapes, leaf sizes and coloration. The new tree `Beni Shi En` is further characterized by forming a tree with an uncommonly dense canopy for the botanical class and by forming a small to medium sized tree at maturity, which has a weakly dominant central leader, formed by numerous slightly ascending scaffold branches, or subject to pruning, can be formed into a specimen with a rounded to broad vase-shape. Foliage coloration of this tree will vary widely as a function of location of culture, but which normally express, variably, a reddish to red-purple blush over a medium green matte top surface which has darker green striation or botches, and a clear, darker green color on the glabrous bottom surface.

    • A method of forming α-alane. The method includes reacting aluminum trichloride and an alkali metal hydride to form an alane-ether complex solution. An aqueous diethyl ether solution is optionally added to the alane-ether complex solution to form a partially hydrolyzed ether/alane-ether complex solution. A solution of a first crystallization additive is added to the alane-ether complex solution or to the aqueous ether/alane-ether complex solution to form a crystallization solution. The first crystallization additive is selected from the group consisting of polystyrene, polybutadiene, polystyrene-co-polybutadiene, polyisoprene, poly-alpha-methylstyrene, polystyrene-co-polyindene, poly-alpha-pinene, and mixtures thereof. Optionally, a second crystallization additive is added to the crystallization solution. The second crystallization additive is selected from the group consisting of squalene, cyclododecatriene, norbornylene, norbornadiene, a phenyl terminated polybutadiene, 2,4-dimethyl anisole, 3,5-dimethyl anisole, 2,6-dimethyl anisole, polydimethyl siloxane, and mixtures thereof Solvents are removed from the crystallization solution to crystallize the α-alane.

    • A cable termination block has terminals arranged in rows across the block, each terminal having a pin portion extending up from the top surface of the block and a socket portion in the bottom of the block. Incoming and outgoing cable conductors are attached to the pin portions, protectors plugging into the socket portions. The cable conductors are connected to alternating rows, i.e. incoming conductors to one row and outgoing conductors to the next row, and so on across the block. A dielectric member is positioned between adjacent rows of incoming and outgoing conductors. In one arrangement incoming conductors are attached to rows of long pins, outgoing conductors attached to rows of short pins. A dielectric member fits over the long pins and rests on the short pins. In another arrangement walls extend up from the block to separate adjacent rows of terminals. The walls may be inclined across the block to form tapered channels.
