    • A camera for use with photographic film. The camera has a body and an exposure system disposed in the body for exposing the film on a frame-by-frame basis. The exposure system includes an exposure opening and a shutter mechanism. The shutter mechanism is momentarily displaceable from a closed state to an open state. A light emitting diode 14 is disposed in the body for directly illuminating one or more positions on the film. Momentarily closeable, normally open contacts 16 are mounted in the body. The contacts 16 are closed for a time period of from about 0.05 milliseconds to about 10 milliseconds, or preferably from about 0.05 milliseconds to about 2 milliseconds, when the shutter mechanism is in the open state. A circuit directly connects the battery unit 18 to the light emitting diode 14 when the contacts 16 are closed. During contact closure, a battery unit 18 powers the light emitting diode 14 at a current level beyond continuous use operating limits of the light emitting diode 14.

    • Apparatus for fixing a flash unit to a camera is disclosed. The apparatus includes mounting magnets and a structure for shielding the fields produced by the mounting magnets in a first undocked position and for exposing the fields produced by the mounting magnets in a second docked position. The apparatus further includes a mounting structure effective in the first undocked position for causing the flash unit to be moveably mounted to the camera and for leaving the shielding structure in the first undocked position and effective when the flash unit is moved to the second docked position for causing the shielding structure to be in the second docked position whereby the exposed fields produced by the mounting magnets cause the flash unit to be fixed to the camera.

    • A microprocessor control controls the operation of a color video printer to produce color photographic copies from color video images. The printer includes a monochrome cathode ray tube (CRT) and an exposure station which is located along an optical path from the CRT and at which is positioned self-processing photographic elements. A video signal circuit provides a color video signal constituting frames of interlaced odd and even fields repeated at broadcast field frequency, wherein each field includes three concurrent color component video signals respectively representing first, second and third colors of a field image. A rotatable filter has red (R), green (G), and blue (B) filters sequentially movable into the optical path. The rotation of the filter is synchronized by the microprocessor control with the field frequency of the color video signal. The microprocessor control actuates a gate connected between the video signal circuit and the CRT to expose a photographic element positioned at the exposure station to a sequence of six color field images corresponding to a full resolution color frame image. The microprocessor control also inhibits exposure of the photographic element when the filter wheel is not rotated in synchronism with the field frequency of the color video signal.
