    • In place of conventional machining of cylinder paths or tracks of piston engines, a honing machining without a rotary component is performed at least as a final machining operation so that the remaining small honing tracks are directed longitudinally and consequently permit an improved running-in behavior in conjunction with the piston rings.     • An improved liquid ring machine having a housing that has a circular inside contour and side shields arranged at its faces, at least one of which is provided with a control disk. The rotor of the machine is eccentrically mounted in the side shields to rotate relative to the machine housing. The rotor comprises a hub, blades, and a center wall that extends radially over the entire circumference of the rotor from the rotor hub to the free end of the blades. A partition wall is attached to the machine housing, lies in the same plane as the center wall and surrounds the center wall such that a gap exists between the center wall and the partition wall. The gap may be easily adjusted by pivoting the machine housing relative to the side shields, i.e., the control disks, and the rotor, around a pivot point that lies outside of the center axis. The machine housing may be secured in place in its pivoted position in each instance. Use of this pivot point provides a more uniform change in gap between the center wall and partition wall, and adjustments to the partition wall are not necessary, thus permitting the machine housing and partition wall to be provided as a unitary element.

    • A pile driver has a hollow and elongated cylindrical housing. Within the housing, a ram can slide upwardly and downwardly in order to provide the force which can drive a pile into dense strata of the earth. A follower, located partially inside the housing and extending out of the bottom thereof, is struck by the ram and is thus interposed between the ram and the pile to be driven when the device is operated. Various devices are disclosed which serve as shock absorbers, the devices cooperating with the follower and with the housing in order to absorb recoil shock which is reflected back to the pile driver after a blow has been transmitted to the pile by the ram via the follower. These devices are so designed that the exterior diameter of the housing does not have to be substantially increased, which allows the pile driver thus manufactured to drive piles through surrounding guides.

    • The pile-driving arrangement can drive piles both above and below water. It includes a housing containing a gas-filled motion chamber and an impact body movable upward and downward in the motion chamber. A cylinder-and-piston mover includes a cylinder part and a piston part, one part connected with the housing and the other with the impact body, for effecting relative movement between the impact body and the housing. A drive unit on the housing includes a drive motor, a pump driven by the motor and a pressure fluid tank. The drive unit is connected with the housing for limited movement relative to the housing. The cylinder part and the pressure fluid pump are interconnected by flexible conduits leading from the pump to the opposite working chambers of the cylinder part, and a direction-changing device controls fluid flow through the conduits. The drive unit is buoyant and floats above the housing at a certain distance when the pile-driving arrangement is submerged, so that shocks are not communicated directly to the drive unit.

    • A fluid operated ram comprises a striker body guided in an upright housing between an active stroke and a return stroke and striking at the end of its active stroke an impact transmitter resting on a member to be driven into the ground by the ram. The striker body is connected by a piston rod to a working piston reciprocatedly arranged in a cylinder coaxially mounted on the upper end of the housing, so that the striker body is driven during reciprocation of the working piston. The working piston is a differential piston and divides the cylinder into a first chamber above the upper larger face of the working piston and a second chamber below the smaller annular face of the differential piston. The second chamber permanently communicates with a source of pressure fluid, while control elements, including an axially movable valve slide and a valve rod cooperating therewith, serve to alternately connect the first chamber to the source of pressure fluid or a tank in dependence on the position of the striker body in the housing. The length of the valve rod is dimensioned so that the lower end thereof engages a contact face on the working piston during the downward movement of the latter together with the striker body, but is disengaged from the contact face shortly before the striker body hits the impact transmitter so that the resulting blow is not transmitted to the valve rod and the other control elements.

    • Device for applying lubricant to the workpiece and/or working surface of the punch of a multistage forging press. Channels are provided between the stepped holding pin of the punch and the wall of the stepped bore in which the holding pin reciprocates. The channels are connected via the interior of the punch to an external lubricant reservoir. The space formed with each stroke of the punch between the shoulders of the holding pin and its stepped bore acts as a pumping space. Each punch stroke causes lubricant to be drawn from the reservoir into the pumping space and subsequently forced out through the channels. Means are also provided by which the supply of lubricant from the reservoir can be more closely regulated in time with the working stroke of the press.

    • A circuit arrangement for limiting the transmission speed of binary data signals is described. A first input is supplied with associated element pulse trains which have a given pulse duration when their repetition frequency is equal to a given limit frequency. When the repetition frequency does not exceed a predetermined limit frequency, binary signals corresponding to the data signals are emitted. A first time stage, supplied with the element pulse trains, emits a first signal having a duration equal to the durations of the pulses in the element pulse trains at the predetermined limit frequency. If the aforementioned first signal occurs between two pulses of the element pulse train, a second time stage, which is supplied with the first signal, and element pulse trains, produces a second signal. The duration of the latter signal is greater than durations of the element pulse train. A blocking stage blocks the emission of binary output signals when the second signal occurs.
