摘要： A pair of nestable caps are disclosed, each of the caps being sized and shaped to provide a protective union about a separated medical connector. The pair comprises a male cap and a female cap, each of which is configured to be adjoined to a complimentary cap to form a nested pair. The nested pair is sealed until separated for use, thereby maintaining sterility of the internal surfaces of the nested pair. One of the caps may have a fluid chamber joined thereto filled with medicine or antiseptic. The cap can have a channel extending therethrough to provide fluid communication between the fluid chamber and a fluid pathway. The fluid chamber can be adapted to diffuse the fluid into the fluid pathway over time, or the fluid chamber can be adapted to dispense the fluid out of the fluid chamber without reflux.

摘要： A valve assembly is disclosed which partitions a conventional syringe into proximal and distal chambers to provide a multi-chamber, sequentially dispensing syringe apparatus. Incorporated in the valve assembly is a valved stopper and a separator which filters out gas from dispensed liquid. The valve assembly is actuated by differential pressure of a force greater than the valve assembly displacement force. Key features: (1) fluids in the chambers are kept disparate; (2) valve assembly may be used in conventional syringes; (3) filtering of gas from dispensed liquid; (4) bi-stable valve operation; (5) reflux free operation; (5) a clinch in the separator holds the valve securely closed until the valve is opened by a predetermined, tactilely sensible action.

摘要： Embodiments for a variable incision width guide-wire steered scalpel are disclosed. Each embodiment employs a split proximally hinged blade which facilitates making a variable width incision of a predetermined, substantially constant depth. Methods for preselecting an incision width are disclosed. Also, embodiments which may be used to provide an incision of preselected depth are disclosed. Notably, once a depth has been predetermined, that depth is kept substantially constant over the width of a resulting incision. While a wire may be threaded through the scalpel as a guide, the scalpel may be used without a guide-wire. The scalpel has safety features which generally follow the steps of piercing to make an incision of predetermined depth, transversely opening the split blade to widen the incision to a predetermined width, closing split blade and retracting the blade into a protective housing. The retracting step may precede the closing step.
