    • A multiple pane glass window unit includes an outboard glass sheet spaced apart from an inboard glass sheet. The glass sheets are coextensive, parallel and vertically disposed and bounded by horizontal edge portions and vertical edge portions. Spacer members are positioned between and connected to the horizontal and vertical edge portions of the glass sheets to space them apart. The spacer members include a horizontal head spacer member connected to a horizontal sill spacer member by a pair of spaced-apart vertical side spacer members. The vertical side spacer members space apart the glass sheets and stiffen and support the side edge portions of the glass sheets against pressures of wind and rain and the elements. Gasket members are attached to the vertical edges of the side spacer members for sealing between side-abutting window units. The gasket members are adapted to be compressed when two such window units are abutted. Each side spacer member is preferably U-shaped in crosssection with the legs of the U facing sideways from the window unit, and each gasket member comprises a foam spacer tape adhered to the edge portions of the legs of the side spacer member and to the side edge portion of the outboard glass sheet. Adhesive layers are provided to seal the side spacer legs to the interior surface of the glass sheets. In the space formed between the vertical edges on the inside glass of two-abutting units and the inside edges of the gasket members silicone caulking is applied at the time of installation to completely seal the vertical joint between units. The window units of the invention may be installed from the inside of the building.
