    • A disc device, a magnetic disc device, and an information memory are provided to limit access for an operating mode of the disc device according to a user by allowing a controller of a control device to control the execution of the operating mode corresponding to an operating mode signal inputted from an operation mode control unit. A head assembly(3) writes and reads information in and from a recording medium(2). A control device(4) controls an write and read operating mode performed for the recording medium(2) by the head assembly(3). An authentication memorizing unit(10) memorizes authentication information which is added in response to the operating mode. The control device(4) includes an authentication unit(20), an operating mode control unit(30), and a controller(50). The authentication unit(20) reads the authentication information from the authentication memorizing unit(10), compares the authentication information with input information inputted through an interface(40) by using a certain method, and confirms whether the authentication information is identical to the input information. When the authentication information is identical to the input information, the operating mode control unit(30) outputs an operating mode signal corresponding to the authentication signal inputted from the authentication unit(20). The controller(50) controls the execution of the operating mode corresponding to the operating mode signal inputted from the operating mode control unit(30).

    • A method and an apparatus for separating a stamper from a patterned substrate are provided to reduce a manufacturing cost by using pressurized air to separate the stamper. A substrate having an upper surface and a lower surface is prepared, in which the upper surface has an imprintable resist layer(602). A support mechanism for retaining the substrate is prepared(604). A stamper having a formed pattern and contacting the upper surface of the substrate to transfer the formed pattern to the imprintable resist layer is provided, in which a chamber is formed within an opening of the substrate when the stamper contacts the substrate(606). A channel directed toward the chamber for introducing pressurized air into the chamber is provided(610). Pressurized air is introduced into the chamber through the channel to initiate separation of the stamper from the substrate(612).
