摘要： An apparatus for detecting the condition of the flow of liquid metal in or from a teeming vessel includes a sensor for detecting vibration caused by a flow of liquid metal in or from the teeming vessel and for outputting a sensor signal corresponding to an amount of vibration detected by the sensor. A signal processor receives the sensor signal and compares the sensor signal to a reference signal and outputs a comparison signal. A logic unit receives the comparison signal and outputs a status signal indicative of the condition of the flow of the liquid metal in or from the teeming vessel.

摘要： A submerged entry nozzle for flowing liquid metal therethrough includes a vertically disposed entrance pipe section having a generally axial symmetry and a first cross-sectional flow area. A transition area having the first cross-sectional flow area with two or more front walls and two or more side walls reduces the thickness of the first cross-sectional area by providing a convergent angle of the front walls and increases the width of the first cross-sectional area by providing a divergent angle of the side walls thereby producing a second cross-sectional area of the transition area which is generally elongated and of planar symmetry. The flow of liquid metal from the transition area is divided into two streams angularly deflected from the vertical in opposite directions.

The baffle (178) is adapted to allocate the proportion of liquid metal divided between the outer stream and the central stream so that the effective discharge angle of the outer stream exiting through the upper exit port varies based on the flow throughput of liquid metal through the casting nozzle.
