    • A headlamp for motor vehicles comprises an electrically driven adjusting device (5) for adjusting a reflector (2). The adjusting device (5) has an electric motor (7) and a step-down gear which are accommodated in a housing (12) arranged inside the headlamp housing (1). The step-down gear consists of a small worm wheel (8) and a large toothed wheel (9) with radial teeth. A rotational movement of the toothed wheel (9) is converted by a screw thread between the toothed wheel (9) and housing (12) to a movement of the toothed wheel (9) along an axis (6) which determines the direction of adjustment. The toothed wheel (9) is connected via a link element (18) to the reflector (2). The housing (12) is rotatably mounted in the headlamp housing (1). The reflector (2) can be set to its normal position from outside the headlamp housing by means of an adjusting element (26) which rotates the housing (12).

    • 1,171,544. Bottling; capping bottles; packaging bottles; handling bottles. H. HASSELMANN. 19 Jan., 1967 [27 Jan., 1966], No. 2842/67. Headings B8C, B8H and B8T. A bottle &c. filling and capping machine comprises conveyers 1, 2 advancing bundles of plastics bottles &c. 3 secured by ties 4 beneath a fixed frame 10 upon which is vertically slidable a frame 8, long plates 6 on the latter being separated by gaps 5 into which the necks of the bottles &c. slide so that collars (3b), Fig. 2 (not shown), around the necks allow the bottles &c. to be lifted off the conveyers when hydraulic &c. servos 11 are energized to raise the slidable frame 8. A tank (22), Fig. 3 (not shown), having depending from its base a number of liquid valves 18, 19, Fig. 4, is carried by the fixed frame 10 so that a valve is positioned over each bottle &c. neck. Raising the frame 8 abuts the bottle &c. necks against seals 16 which are forced upwards against the bias of springs 17 to collapse flexible tubes 21 and open the valves 18, 19 for the admission of liquid to the bottles. Gas escapes from the bottles &c. to the tank (22), which is maintained at a reduced pressure, through pipes 20. Similar frames 8, 10 &c. are then used to apply crown caps, screw threaded caps &c. 28, Fig. 5, to the bottles 3, the caps being friction fits in openings 27 in a pusher plate 26 which is slidden in from a side frame 30 along grooves 25, Fig. 1, over the bottles &c. and beneath an abutment plate 29. When the frame 8 and the bottles &c. 3 are raised, the necks of the bottles &c. are pushed into the caps 28. If screwthreaded caps are to be applied, the abutment plate 29 is replaced by a series of cap-screwing power-driven tools (31, 32), Fig. 6 (not shown), arranged above the bottles &c. When the frame 8 is raised, recesses in the tops of the caps engage the ends (32) of the cap-screwing tools, which are driven through friction slip couplings to screw the caps home. Following filling and capping of the bottles &c., a similar but larger frame 8, 10 may be used to stack the bundles of bottles &c. 3, Fig. 7, on a pallet 51. Bundles of bottles &c. 3 are advanced, as before, by conveyers 1, 2 so that the collars round their necks slide between long plates 6 mounted on the vertically slidable frame 8. In this form, the frame 8 is of such a size as to receive three bundles of bottles &c. (35 ... 37), Fig. 8 (not shown), one behind the other. When the three bundles (35 &c.) have been accepted, the frame 8 is slidden rightwards, Fig. 7, by a power winch which operates so that wheels 38 supporting the frame roll along a fixed track 39. Another three bundles of bottles &c. are then advanced by the conveyers 1, 2 to be held adjacent the first three bundles. Again the frame 8 is slidden rightwards, and another three bundles are advanced into position. Again the frame 8, together with the bundles 3, is slidden rightwards, until it lies wholly within a track support 42, which is lowered by a winch 50 to place the bundles 3 on the pallet 51. A conveyer 52 then removes the pallet 51 &c., the long plates 6 being hinged to permit their withdrawal from the bottle &c. necks. Alternatively, the pallet 51 may be removed by a conveyer parallel to, instead of perpendicular to, the conveyer 1, 2. More than one layer of bundles 3 may be stacked upon the pallet 51. Alternatively the pallet 51 may be raised to the bundles held in the frame 8, instead of the latter being lowered towards the pallet. The frame 8 may be rotated before it is aligned with the pallet 51. Control of the device may be effected automatically by feelers, rays of light, counters &c., and the conveyers may move continuously or discontinuously.
