摘要： The invention concerns a vehicle with air-cooled friction brakes (8) and an internal-combustion engine supercharged by a mechanically powered supercharger (2). By means of an air-supply valve (6) fitted in the charge-air feed line (4, 4a, 4b), the air flow from the supercharger (2), which is also powered when the vehicle is being braked, is supplied to the brakes (8) as cooling air. The air-supply valve (6) is opened or closed by a control device (13) which determines the instantaneous vehicle driving condition (braking or power demand on the engine (1)] as a function of actuation of the brake pedal (11) or accelerator (16), respectively, or from signals generated in an ABS-ASR system. Any charge-air cooler (5) which may be fitted is conveniently located upstream of the air-supply valve (6), i.e. towards the supercharger (2).

摘要： A vehicle has a frame enclosing the usable space of the vehicle. An extendable impact protection unit is connected to the frame. The extendable impact protection unit has an extendable member and a telescopic device for extending and retracting the extendable member relative to the frame. The extendable impact protection unit, when extended, enlarges the outer contour of the vehicle and provides a deformation zone for absorbing impact forces in order to protect the usable space. The telescopic device has at least two extendable components engaging different locations of the extendable member and having a travel stroke from a retracted position into an extended position. The at least two extendable components have an impact compensation capacity. The vehicle also includes a device for adjusting at least one of the impact compensation capacity and the travel stroke independently for each one of the at least two extendable components.

摘要： The appts. has airbags (12,14,16) fitted between the vehicle and the bumpers (10). The airbags are designed to absorb impact energy and can be individually controlled to alter the damping effect. The system can thus be adjusted to provide a softer response when travelling in pedestrian areas. A main airbag in the centre of the vehicle is flanked by two smaller airbags. The extending vehicle section is covered with a soft outer layer and the system is activated by collision sensors. The sensor system also monitors the relative movement between the bumper and the vehicle. The whole system can be fitted to the vehicle as a module.
