    • A method and system for accessing a non-volatile memory is disclosed. The method includes writing a first stream of data to a first block of a first region of a non-volatile memory and detecting a full condition of the first block of the first region. Further, the method includes identifying data to be copied from the first block of the first region and copying the identified data from the first block of the first region to a second block of the first region of the non-volatile memory. The method also includes writing a second stream of data to the second block of the first region and writing a third stream of data to a first block of a second region of the non-volatile memory. In addition, the method includes detecting a full condition of the first block of the second region, identifying data to be copied from the first block of the second region and copying the identified data from the first block of the second region to a second block of the second region of the non-volatile memory. The method also includes writing a fourth stream of data to the second block of the second region of the non-volatile memory.

    • An Infrared (IR) receiver includes a programmable decoder having a normal mode of operation and a proprietary mode of operation. When the programmable decoder is in the normal mode of operation, the programmable decoder decodes frames of an IR data transmission to produce decoded data. When the programmable decoder is in the proprietary mode of operation, the programmable decoder passes data of the IR data transmission during a time out period to produce raw data. The IR receiver also includes a pulse detection circuit that generates a pulse detection signal in response to detecting the IR data transmission. The IR receiver further includes a timer circuit that generates the timeout period in response to the pulse detection signal.

    • A method for controlling data packet flow through an infrared adapter is provided and includes receiving a data stream from an infrared device. The data stream has a first data transmission rate. Further, the rate of transmission of the data stream is modified within the infrared adapter to produce an output data stream having a second data transmission rate. Also, the output data stream is transmitted from the infrared adapter. In a particular embodiment, the first data transmission rate is different from the second data transmission rate. Particularly, the second data transmission rate is less than the first data transmission rate.

    • An infrared data receiver includes an infrared detector for generating a received signal from an infrared input signal. A sampling module generates a sequence of sampled data from the received signal. A plurality of processing modules are included, wherein each processing module is capable of detecting and decoding data in at least one of a plurality of data formats. Each processing module analyzes the sequence of sampled data for its particular data formats. When a processing module detects one of its data formats, it generates a detection signal and decodes the sequence of sampled data into decoded data. A controller module receives the detection signal from one of the plurality of processing module, and disables the other ones of the plurality processing modules.

    • An infrared data receiver includes an infrared detector for generating a received signal from an infrared input signal. A sampling module generates a sequence of sampled data from the received signal. A plurality of processing modules are included, wherein each processing module is capable of detecting and decoding data in at least one of a plurality of data formats.
