    • The window or door assembly 1 comprises a glazing unit 2 housed within a frame 4, the frame comprises a sash 6 accommodating the glazing unit and a plurality of vertically and horizontally extending frame elements 8 surrounding the sash. The assembly further comprises a sash profile 12 mounted to an outwardly facing surface 24 of the sash and a frame profile 14 mounted to an outwardly facing surface of at least one of the frame elements. The sash profile is releasably mounted to the sash by means of a rotational clip 16 so as to overlap an edge of the glazing unit. A gap 26, 30 is further provided between the sash profile and outwardly facing surfaces of the glazing unit and sash, the gap extending from an edge of the sash profile 28 which overlaps the glazing unit to the rotational clip. The sash profile further overlaps a portion of an outwardly facing surface of the frame profile. The assembly may further comprise a sealing member 32, 33 provided in the gap to form a seal between the sash profile and the glazing unit and/or between the sash and sash profile. The seal may take the form of a gasket.

The frame section may be elongate extruded aluminium or plastic, and connect to other frame sections at mitre joints to form a rectangle. Cavities may be filled by an inert noble gas, e.g. argon, or insulating foam. The frame sections may have sealable inlet and outlet ports to permit passage of gas (42,52 Fig. 2). Frames sections may have a recess (43,53 Fig. 2) for receiving a snap fit or friction fit retaining clip 9 for retrofitting assemblies to an existing frame to reduce heat loss from building. Also claimed is a window a door having cladding assemblies attached. There may be separate assemblies attached to glazing unit frame 2 and window/door frame 2 respectively. There may be a weather seal 10 covering the gap between frames, and glazing tape 11 between assembly and glazing unit 3.

    • An improved rail car door closer system is provided wherein the movement of a number of appropriately positioned closer wing plates into contact with a number of open rail car hopper doors, is accomplished with hydraulic cylinders and motors. The system incorporates components that direct both the rotation of the wing closers (around a cylindrical frame so as to position the wing closers in and out of position for door closure), and the translation of the wing closers (along the longitudinal cylindrical frame so as to effect the actual closing of the hopper doors). The system is arranged to close more than one door at a time and in the preferred embodiment includes three simultaneously operated door closer wing structures. The heavy duty cylindrical frame incorporates a number of cylindrical outer segments sized to fit around and on the inner cylindrical frame. The segments are directed to rotate and translate on the inner cylindrical frame. Heavy duty coil springs are used to link the movable outer segments, one to the other, and to serve as force dampening structures during operation of the system. A double acting hydraulic cylinder is arranged to direct the translational movement of the closer wings while a low speed hydraulic motor is used to direct their rotational movement. The system may operate manually through the use of a number of hydraulic valves or may be operated semi-automatically through a programmed sequence of closer wing movements.

    • There is provided a housing for a flow conditioner. The housing comprises a body having first and second pipe connections, a flow passage between the pipe connections, a carrier receiving cavity within the flow passage, and an opening corresponding to the carrier receiving cavity. A plate carrier has a sealing portion and a flow conditioner carrying portion. The sealing portion has a sealing surface for sealing the opening corresponding to the carrier receiving cavity, and the flow conditioner carrying portion depends from the sealing portion. The flow conditioner carrying portion is sized to be inserted through the opening and into the carrier receiving cavity, and has a plurality of set screw receiving apertures or a retaining lip for securing the flow conditioner. There is a connector for securing the plate carrier within the body such that the sealing surface seals against the body.

    • A track mounted system for closing rail car doors that enables the simultaneous closing of multiple car doors. After hopper car contents such as aggregate or coal are unloaded, the doors are closed in pairs by semi-automated door closing arms that are positioned on the track and are operated by hydraulic cylinders, pneumatic cylinders, or electric motors. The closing arms are configured in specific shapes to adapt to a variety of hopper door configurations. The closing arms may be added in pairs depending on the number of doors. The door closer can be sequenced to accommodate frontward or rearward facing doors. Hydraulic cylinders with a differential bell crank can be used to activate the closer arm assemblies. Closer arms can be mounted side by side on the inside or outside of the track or separately inside and outside of the track.
