    • A cathode ray tube (CRT) (1) having a glass envelope (2) is disclosed. The glass envelope is formed of a rectangular faceplate panel (3) and a tubular neck (4) connected thereto by a funnel (5). An electron gun (13) is positioned in the neck for directing electron beams toward the faceplate panel. A yoke (14) is positioned in the neighborhood of the funnel-to-neck junction. The yoke has windings configured to apply a horizontal deflection yoke field and a vertical deflection yoke field to the beams. At least one magnetic field sensor (17) is located near the glass envelope for sensing an ambient magnetic field environment of the CRT. A controller receives a signal from the magnetic field sensor. Register correction coils are mounted in the vicinity of the neck and are dynamically controlled by the controller to shift the beams. Quadrupole coils (16) are applied to the neck and have adjacent poles of alternating polarity such that the resultant magnetic field being dynamically controlled by the controller based on the magnetic field sensor signal moves outer ones of the beams to correct the misconvergence caused by the register correction.

    • A cathode ray tube (CRT) having a glass envelope is disclosed. The glass envelope is formed of a rectangular faceplate panel having a viewing screen and a tubular neck connected thereto by a funnel. An electron gun is positioned in the neck for directing electron beams toward the faceplate panel. The electron beams emitted from individual cathodes of the electron gun form individual sub-images of a corresponding particular color when scanned on the screen according to a video input signal. A video signal processing system having luminance processing is employed to correct the light output at a plurality of points along the viewing screen by adjusting the drive voltage of the video signal according to a voltage correction factor calculated to achieve desired light output at each point.

    • A beam index cathode ray tube comprises a screen, an electron gun assembly, a yoke, and an image processor. The screen includes an alternating pattern of first, second, and third luminescent elements. The first second and third luminescent elements are arranged in triads. Each of the triads has one of each of the first, second, and third luminescent elements. The electron gun assembly directs first, second, and third electron beams toward the screen. The first, second, and third electron beams have an intensity controlled by an image processor. The yoke is arranged between the electron gun assembly and the screen. The yoke deflects the first, second, and third electron beams according to an algorithm generated by the image processor. Each of the first, second, and third electron beams is simultaneously deflected to the first luminescent element of either a single triad or multiple triads.
