    • 382,293. Thermostats. STEVENS, S. A., RYAN, E. G., and WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SAXBY SIGNAL CO., Ltd., 82, York Road, King's Cross, London. June 22, 1931, No. 18060. [Class 64 (ii).] A thermostatic control employs a heatsensitive element comprising a compound of a metal in contact with a metal, the variation in resistance with temperature being used to actuate a relay. A sensitive body 1 consisting of copper and cuprous oxide is connected in series with a relay 2 and a current source 4, 5 so that the current traverses the element in its high resistance direction. A variable resistance 6 enables the voltage to be regulated, and a variable resistance 7 in parallel across the relay enables the temperature at which the relay-operates to be adjusted. The circuit 9 includes any desired regulating or indicating device. In a modification, Fig. 2 (not shown), the element 1 is connected in one arm of a Wheatstone bridge circuit, the relay being in the diagonal and serving to actuate a twoway switch. In another modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), alternating current is employed, using a full-wave rectifier and a one-way switch is actuated by the relay, while in Fig. 4 (not shown) alternating current is employed with two full-wave rectifiers and a relay of the differential type which actuates a two-way switch.

    • The present invention provides a composite electrode and method of manufacturing such a composite electrode, the method comprising the steps of: providing a first substrate layer with an electrically conducting surface; providing a non-conducting curable material; providing a second substrate layer which has a surface relief pattern defining at least one retaining feature corresponding to a desired metal track pattern; forming a line of contact between the conducting carrier layer and at least a part of the surface relief pattern; depositing curable material onto at least part of the surface relief pattern or the electrically conducting surface along the line of contact; advancing the line of contact and curing the curable material through the second substrate layer; releasing the cured material from the surface relief pattern feature so as to leave behind a surface relief pattern on the conducting carrier layer; depositing a first metal layer onto the exposed regions of the electrically conducting surface of the conducting carrier layer and optionally deposition further metal layers on the first metal layer.

    • Article of children's furniture useful as a rocker in a first orientation and useful as a high-chair or as a desk when inverted. In both such orientations of the article, a child using it has a seat, a back-rest, a foot-rest, and a ledge conveniently located above and ahead of the seat. In the inverted orientation a tray, readily detachable by an adult but not by a child, is attachable above the ledge as a location for food or for toys or for use as a writing surface. Casters, attachable to the article when in the rocker orientation, facilitate movement of the article when in the inverted position--but not by a child seated therein, who is too short to reach the floor--and double as toys in the rocker orientation. This article of furniture is stable in both its rocking and inverted orientations, and supports a child securely.
