摘要： An epoxy resin composition comprises an isocyanate modified epoxy resin, which is a reaction product of (a) a multi-functional epoxy resin having an epoxy functionality of greater than about 2.2 and (b) a diisocyanate compound. The isocyanate modified epoxy resin has a high resin softening point and a high cross-linked glass transition temperature Tg for powder coating applications.

摘要： Epoxy resin systems having good flexibility and impact resistance are modified to provide improved resistance to solvents. Incorporation of a polyalkyleneoxide segment of a molecular weight less than 500 provides improved chemical resistance without sacrifice of mechanical properties. To achieve this an alkoxylated polyol with low molecular weight is reacted with a polycarboxylic acid anhydride to produce the half ester, which is then used to synthesize the flexibilized epoxy resin by forming adducts with polyglycidyl ethers. The flexibilized epoxy resins as well as the acid functionalized oligooxyalkylenes are claimed.

摘要： The invention is a formulation that contains: (1) a low-viscosity epoxy resin; (2) a phenolic chain extender whose concentration is less that 0.6 equivalents phenolic hydroxyl group per equivalent of the low-viscosity epoxy resin; (3) a catalyst that promotes self-curing reactions between epoxy groups; (4) an inhibitor that inhibits the activity of the catalyst under "B-staging" conditions; (5) less than 25 weight percent of a volatile organic solvent; and (6) optionally, a multifunctional cross-linking agent. The formulation contains low levels of volatile organic solvent, and can be used to make electrical laminates. It builds molecular weight controllably in B-staging, so that dripping is avoided but the prepreg can be easily laminated.

摘要： The present invention is a halogen-free ignition resistant polymer composition comprising: A) a thermoplastic polymer or polymer blend, B) a modified multi-functional epoxy resin containing from 0-20 wt. percent residual epoxy groups, based on the total weight of the epoxy resin, and C) a phosphorus containing compound. The use of a modified multifunctional epoxy compound having from 0-20 weight percent residual epoxy groups, enhances the flame retardancy of the thermoplastic polymer, and can increase the compatibility of the epoxy resin with the thermoplastic polymer through the use of the modified functionalities, without causing black specks in the final product. It has been additionally discovered that modified multi-functional epoxy resins can also contribute to improved mechanical properties, melt flow rate and processability.
