The antioxidant and whitening agent comprise, as an effective component, one or more extracts from Basidiomycetes selected from the group consisting of Pleurotus abalonus, Pholiota squarrosa, Onnia orientalis, Astraeus hygrometricus and Pleurotus nebrodensis. These extracts have a free radical capturing ability and are useful for suppressing skin oxidation and for preventing and improving skin aging. In addition, the extracts have a tyrosinase activity inhibiting action and can suppress the melanin generation. Since the fruit bodies of these Basidiomycetes have been used for edible purpose and have high safety, they can be used preferably for an external preparation for skin.

摘要： The present invention provides a new strain of turkey tail mushroom (Trametes versicolor (L.: Fr.) Pilat) having excellent biological activities (Accession number: FERM BP-10633). The strain is excellent in platelet aggregation inhibitory effect, chemokine gene expression inhibitory effect, antimutagenic effect, antitumor effect, antihypertensive effect, and immunomodulatory effect. The effect of the strain is enhanced synergistically by combining with microalgae and other basidiomycetes. The turkey tail mushroom of the present invention has high safety, and a possibility that a side effect is caused because of long-term continuous use is very low. Thus, it is useful for food/drink, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals or the like, the objective of which is the prevention and improvement in inflammation, allergy, tumor, and other diseases. The turkey tail mushroom strain of the present invention has very high hyphal growth property and very high physiological functions compared with conventional strains; therefore, it can be used stably.

By contacting a polyphenol-containing solution to a specific polysaccharide to support polyphenols with the polysaccharide, a polyphenol-containing composition usable as an additive for foods and drinks can be obtained. In addition, polyphenol can be purified by contacting polysaccharide-supported polyphenols with solvent to elute polyphenols into the solvent and then powderizing the polyphenols after removing the solvent.
