    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slurry classifying device and method comprising a simple structure without lowering dehydration efficiency even under long-term use in classifying/dehydrating slurry containing a solidifying material, by a filter and facilitating maintenance such as washing and cleaning.
      SOLUTION: The slurry classifying device and method comprise a pair of air/liquid passing pistons 2 mounted with filters 7 axially reciprocated facing in a cylindrical tank 1, and a pair of cylinders 3. A space surrounded by a tank internal wall and the pair of pistons is formed as a pressing chamber 4 of slurry containing the solidifying material and a coagulating agent. A slurry throw-in port 5 and a dehydrated cake discharge port 6 of the pressing chamber 4 are opened/closed in relation to the reciprocating motion of the pistons 2, and a back space of each piston is put in communication with and cut off from a compressed air feeding means 8 and a vacuum/intake means 9 to open/close a drain port 10 of water separated from the slurry to thereby drain the separated water. In discharging the cake, compressed air is blasted to the pressing chamber side from the back face of each filter to clean the solidifying material left on the filter and the pistons every time the cake is discharged.
