摘要： Wave energy converters having a paddle form and facing the seas have been described in papers, previous designs having a sliding mass located low in the hull. Power is taken off by resisting the movement of the sliding mass. In this invention, the sliding mass is located high in the hull, generally above sea level, where it is more effective and so may have a substantially lower mass. In addition, instead of moving in a straight line, means may be provided for the slide to be curved in the vertical plane to improve performance. Further, the guiding means may be a pivoted arm or a linkage, rather than a slide, and the path may be variable to suit the period of the waves.

摘要： A shoe providing a massaging effect for a wearer of the shoe includes a sole bladder (13) containing a fluid (14) which can flow within the bladder as a wearer shifts weight in the shoe and at least one flow passage (36, 39, 40) extending from the bladder into a shoe upper (12) adjacent a portion of a wearer's foot and arranged in conjunction with the bladder so that fluid from the bladder will flow through the passage upon at least a particular weight transfer on the bladder. Preferably a flow passage (36) is provided around the heel portion of the shoe and also at locations forwardly of the heel portion of the shoe. The fluid in the bladder is replaceable so that a cooling fluid or warming fluid can be placed in the bladder. The bladder can also contain recessed portions (70, 71) positioned to relieve pressure on particular areas of a wearer's foot.
