    • The chuck as per the invention comprises a base body unit and, rotatably mounted thereon, a clamping jaw taper sleeve in which clamping jaws can be displaced in such a way that they are radially adjusted by means of axial displacement relative to the clamping jaw taper sleeve, a worm drive that axially displaces the clamping jaws and is actuated by rotation of the clamping jaw taper sleeve, and a gear for increasing the clamping force, wherein the worm drive has a first threaded body which is connected with the clamping jaws and is moved axially and a second threaded body which meshes therewith, the screw action providing that when the clamping jaw taper sleeve is rotated the first threaded body effects an axial movement which is transmitted to the clamping jaws. The chuck as per the invention is characterized in that the clamping force gear has a gear output member coupled to one of the threaded bodies and, meshed therewith, a gear input member which can be rotated about an axis to actuate the clamping force gear so as to exert a torque on the threaded body coupled to the gear output member, this torque being transformed into an axial force on the first threaded body.
