    • 1361876 Hydraulic press for wringing yarns &c A FERRARI 12 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 52584/71 Heading D1L A hydraulic press for wringing and rinsing yarn and flock comprises a baseplate 1 carrying a slidable platform 2 which supports a rotatable circular platform 5 having a toothed peripherary 6 and shaped vertical supports 7 for stably supporting a perforated container 6 for the material to be wrung, and a main hydraulic jack 26 having a pressing foot 27 and supported for reciprocation into the container 9 via crosspiece 24 and vertical columns 20, 21 mounted on the base plate 1, the circular platform 5 being intermittently rotated during reciprocation of the pressing foot 27 by a second hydraulic jack 10 (Fig. 4) coupled by clamp 13 to an arm 14 which extends radially of the platform 5 and carries a pawl 16 which engages the toothed periphery 6 of the platform, the position of the clamp 13 along the arm 14, and hence the degree of displacement of the platform for each complete stroke of the jack 10, being variable between any one of a plurality of positions. In operation the perforated container 9 is filled with the material to be wrung, the container is placed on platform 5 by a conventional twist and the platform 5 is moved by sliding platform 2 under hydraulic jack 25. The jack 25 is then activated and presses the material downwards and returns to its upward position. Platform 5 is then rotated through a desired angle and the pressing foot again lowered, the sequence being repeated as required. A douche 47 supplied with water under pressure may be provided above container 9 so that a simultaneous rinsing and wringing operation may be performed. The rotatable platform 5 may be locked during each pressing operation by a series of L-shaped locking pieces engaging with its periphery and activated by further hydraulic jacks [see Fig. 2, not shown].
