摘要： The present invention relates to a process for the pretreatment of heavy oils using a catalytic hydrotreating process prior to introduction to a refinery. More specifically, the invention relates to the use of an HDM reactor and an HDS reactor in order to improve the characteristics of the heavy oil, such that when the oil is introduced into the refinery, the refinery can achieve improved throughputs, increased catalysts life, increased life cycles, and a reduction in overall operation costs.

摘要： The invention relates to a method for removing sulfur from crude oils using a catalytic hydrotreating process operating at moderate temperature and pressure and reduced hydrogen consumption. The process produces sweet crude oil having a sulfur content of between about 0.1 and 1.0 wt % in addition to reduced crude density. The method employs least two reactors in series, wherein the first reactor includes a hydroconversion catalyst and the second reactor includes a desulfurization catalyst.

摘要： A carbon dioxide composition comprising carbon dioxide joined with at least one component comprising oligomers or small molecules to form a viscous carbon dioxide composition useable for improved efficiency in oil removal. The oligomers and small molecules chemically associate with carbon dioxide molecules to increase the viscosity over the carbon dioxide. The component or components may include at least two groups, with one comprising a proton donor group that binds to carbon dioxide, and the other comprising a proton acceptor group. The groups are molecularly arranged such that proton transfer results in associations that repeat to form a large structure to provide increased viscosity. A method of forming and using the viscous carbon dioxide composition involves injecting an additive of oligomers and/or small molecules into a stream of high pressure carbon dioxide adjacent a well head, and injecting the composition into the well.

摘要： The process of the present invention is directed to the desulfurization of a sulfur-containing hydrocarbon stream with a membrane contactor, where sulfur compounds are concentrated in a sulfur-rich stream on a permeate side of the membrane using an extractive liquid, and a sulfur-lean stream is recovered as a retentate. The sulfur-rich stream, which has a small volume relative to the original hydrocarbon stream, is conveyed to a recovery zone to recover extractive liquid, and the remaining hydrocarbon stream having an increased concentration of sulfur compounds is passed to a downstream desulfurization apparatus or system, such as a hydrotreating system, to recover the hydrocarbons associated with the organosulfur compounds.
