    • A digital message transmission system has a transmit side wherein two pulse sequences are sampled at the rate of two plesiochronic data clocks and the sampled sequences are expanded by the insertion of additional information in the manner of "positive stuffing." The two pulse sequences including the additional information are transmitted to the receive side in a pulse frame, the procedure being reversed at the proceed side to decode the message. The momentary phase relationship between the two plesiochronic data clocks, in the form of a binary phase word, is inserted as a portion of the additional information. An auxiliary clock signal is derived from a reference data clock signal for use in transforming the phase measurement (difference between a higher and a lower frequency level) into the binary phase word. An auxiliary plesiochronic clock signal, which is plesiochronic relative to the auxiliary clock signal, is derived from the reference data clock signal and the plesiochronic data clock signal (plesiochronic relative to the data clock signal), the auxiliary plesiochronic clock signal being compared in phase to the auxiliary clock signal.

    • In a data transmission system which uses frequency-differential phase modulation including a composite signal comprising a plurality of carriers apparatus is described for receiving and demodulating the aforementioned signal. In the receiver the signal, so modulated, is coupled to a plurality of correlators which produce d.c. voltages having values indicative of the phase states of the carriers. Binary words, similarly indicative of the phase states, are derived from the d.c. voltages, and these are stored in consecutive form in binary stores. The differences between the binary words yield the transmitted data. The outputs of the aforementioned correlators are connected to inputs of a time multiplexer which acts to connect outputs of two correlators to two multiplexer outputs. The outputs of the time multiplexer are connected to a phase modulator which produces a phase modulated signal responsive to the time multiplexer output signals. The zero crossovers of the phase modulated signal are indicative of the phase states of the carriers. A phase-sensitive analog-digital converter derives from the aforementioned zero crossovers binary words which indicate the phase states of the carriers.

    • A circuit arrangement is disclosed for correcting frequency errors during a transmission of data by means of data signals which are modulated according to a frequency-differential phase modulation. The circuit arrangement corrects frequency errors which occur during the transmission of the data signals from a data transmitter to a data receiver. The data receiver contains a regulating stage inside which the data signals are converted with the assistance of mixed signals. A repetition frequency of the mixed signals is regulated with the assistance of a first regulating unit performing a fine regulation and a second regulating unit performing a coarse regulation in such a way that frequency errors of the data signals are corrected. A regulator generates the mixed signals from timing pulses of given repetition frequency with the assistance of frequency multipliers. The frequency multipliers are controlled by regulating signals which optionally switch through a selection unit to the regulator from either the first regulating unit or the second regulating unit.
