The system further includes a coarse tracker coupled to the turret payload, positioned parallel to and on an axis of revolution of the off-axis telescope, and configured to detect, acquire, and track the target through the second of the at least two conformal windows.

    • A six-port reflectometer includes first, second and third forward directional couplers to transmit power from a source for reflection at a measurement port. The couplers also divert incident and reflected wave samples for subsequent measurements. A fourth forward directional coupler receives samples of incident and reflected waves from the second coupler, the reflected waves being received directly and the incident waves via a waveguide appropriate to equalize wave path lengths. The first coupler is connected to a matched load and the third coupler to a short circuit. The first coupler may be a 6 dB device and the second, third and fourth couplers 3 dB devices. Power detectors are connected to the first, third and fourth couplers. The reflectometer has the band-width of its components.

    • The technology can include a high power laser beam delivery system. The system includes a rotary turret platform rotatable along multiple axes for aiming of a high power laser beam. The system further includes a turret payload device coupled to the rotary turret platform that is a truncated sphere and configured to rapidly deploy from a vehicle and stow within the vehicle. The system further includes at least two conformal windows in a spherical side of the turret payload. The system further includes an off-axis telescope coupled to the turret payload, having an articulated secondary mirror for correcting optical aberrations, and configured to reflect the high power laser beam to a target through the first of the at least two conformal windows. The system further includes an illuminator beam device coupled to the turret payload and configured to detect atmospheric disturbance between the system and the target by actively illuminating the target to generate a return aberrated wavefront through the first of the at least two conformal windows. The system further includes a coarse tracker coupled to the turret payload, positioned parallel to and on an axis of revolution of the off-axis telescope, and configured to detect, acquire, and track the target through the second of the at least two conformal windows.

    • A six-port reflectometer has first and second directional couplers, a first waveguide and a third directional coupler providing a series connection from a source to a test device. The first coupler is connected to two detectors. The second coupler is connected to a third detector and to a fourth waveguide having two ports connected via a waveguide and a further port connected to an absorber. The third coupler is connected to a detector and a reflector. The second waveguide and the reflector receive radiation coupled by the second and third couplers respectively. The third and fourth couplers provide equivalent transmission paths. Equal path lengths are traversed by signals leaving the second coupler and returning to it from the reflector and the fourth coupler respectively. With broad-band couplers and waveguides, this arrangement gives broad-band performance.

    • An RF interferometer is provided in which a power source is connected via first and second directional couplers to a load or device under test. The second coupler is connected to a second detector sampling power incident on the load. The first coupler is connected to a first detector arranged to detect power arising from vector combinations of source voltage and load-reflected voltage. The first coupler is also connected to a three position switch disposed to present any one of three reflecting arrangements to coupled source power. The reflecting arrangements consist of a short-circuited first waveguide, an open circuited second waveguide and a directional coupler having two ports remote from the switch connected together by a third waveguide. Operation of the switch furnishes three different vector combinations of source and load-reflected voltage for measurement by the first detector. This is equivalent to the result achieved by a six-port reflectometer, but with reduced dependence on the frequency stability of components.
