[Class 80 (ii).] Gear control mechanism comprises a striker plate 14, Fig. 5, with ratchet teeth 16 on opposite edges engaged alternatively by pawls 12, Fig. 3, on two separate arms 11, Fig. 2, which coact with control and fixed plates 7, 2 so that repeated strokes of a pedal &c. 5 give stepped displacements in either direction to the striker 14. The fixed plate 2 has a lug stop 19, Fig. 6, projecting between the pawl arms 11, and a lug stop 10 projecting into a gap 9, Fig. 4, in an arcuate flange 8 on the control plate 7. The control plate 7 and the pedal 5 are connected so as to rock together by a splined sleeve 6, Fig. 2, loose on a central arbor 1. The pawls 12 and arms 11 are biased towards each other by a spring 17, Fig. 3, secured at its ends to cranked extensions 20, Fig. 7, of the pawl pivots 18, which are prevented from turning by a flat 21 on the pin and a flat 22, Fig. 8, on the arm 11. Each pawl 12 has a rear lug 13, Fig. 9, in the path of the plate 7, and the pawl lugs 13 are connected by a spring 23, Fig. 3. The spring 17 normally holds the parts other than the striker 14 in neutral, not shown, in which the pawl lugs 13 hold the plate 7 between them over the lug stop 19. When the pedal 5 is depressed, the plate 7 strikes the lug 13 of the lower pawl 12, moving that pawl into engage. ment with the lower teeth 16. Further depression to the position of Fig. 3 carries the striker 14 clockwise until the gap 9 has moved fully across the stop 10 and the plate 7 is thus stopped. The upper pawl arm 11 has been held back by the stop 19, and the springs 17, 23 are stretched. On release of foot pressure, these springs return the parts to neutral leaving the striker 14 turned one step clockwise. An upward oscillation of the pedal turns the striker one step the other way. The parts are locked in neutral against inadvertent movement by a spring plunger 26, Fig. 2, on the fixed plate 2 engaging a recess 27 in the control plate 7. A cover-plate 28 moves with the plate 7.

    • An e-vapor apparatus may include a pod assembly and a dispensing body configured to receive the pod assembly. A vaporizer may be disposed in the pod assembly and/or the dispensing body. The pod assembly may include a pre-vapor formulation compartment, a device compartment, and a vapor channel extending from the device compartment and traversing the pre-vapor formulation compartment. The pod assembly is a smart pod configured to receive, store, and transmit information that can be communicated with the dispensing body and/or another electronic device. The proximal portion of the dispensing body includes a vapor passage and a through-hole. The vapor passage may extend from an end surface of the proximal portion to a side wall of the through-hole. The through-hole is configured to receive the pod assembly such that the vapor channel of the pod assembly is aligned with the vapor passage of the dispensing body.
