A coin-freed vending machine having a drawer for dispensing articles 36 one by one from a pile includes one or more coin tubes arranged above the drawer whereby one or more coins are dispensed as change on each operation of the drawer. The coin tubes are formed in a single plastics moulding spaced above coin-receiving recesses 40 in the upper surface of the drawer. In a modification, the lower end of each coin tube is closed. A spring-loaded blade carried by the drawer passes through a slot in the coin tube on the outward or return movement of the drawer to separate a coin from the pile. The drawer is normally looked in position by a spring-loaded pawl engaging a rack on the underside of the drawer. An inserted coin is received in a slot 39 in the drawer to cam the pawl away from the rack on actuation of the drawer.

    • A homogenous fluoropolymeric melt-bonded layer in a multilayer composite coheres to a pervious fluoropolymer layer of fluoroelastomeric thermoplastic and/or etched polytetrafluoroethylene. Before curing, the homogenous fluoropolymer has a stoichiometrically identical monomer unit with the pervious fluoropolymer, the homogenous fluoropolymer liquefaction range supra-point temperature is not greater than that of the pervious fluoropolymer, the homogenous fluoropolymer liquefaction range supra-point temperature is not less than the pervious fluoropolymer liquefaction range sub-point temperature, and the homogenous fluoropolymer liquefaction range supra-point viscosity is less than that of the pervious fluoropolymer. In some multilayer composites, the homogenous fluoropolymeric melt-bonded layer coheres to a third layer of plastic, metal, ceramic, rubber, wood, and/or leather. In such 3+ layer composites, the homogenous fluoropolymeric contains an epoxy compound, a phenoxy compound, silane, and/or a heat-polymerizable thermoplastic oligomer. Various composites according to the technology are adapted for use as gaskets, dynamic seals, compression seals, or o-rings.

    • Processable rubber compositions containing a vulcanized elastomeric material dispersed in a matrix of a thermoplastic polymeric material. The vulcanized elastomeric material is a peroxide cure polymeric material containing repeating units derived from fluorine-containing monomers and at least one peroxide cure site monomer. In one embodiment the matrix forms a continuous phase and the vulcanized elastomeric material is in the form of particles forming a non-continuous phase. The compositions are made by combining a radical curing system, a fluorocarbon elastomer material, and a fluoroplastic material, and heating the mixture at a temperature and for a time sufficient to effect vulcanization of the elastomeric material, while mechanical energy is applied to mix the mixture during the heating step. Shaped articles may be readily formed from the rubber compositions according to conventional thermoplastic processes such as blow molding, injection molding, and extrusion. Examples of useful articles include seals, gaskets, O-rings, and hoses.
