[Class 136 (i)] In an auxiliary luggage-carrier for motor and I other cycles &c. of the type comprising an anchorage member adapted to be secured to the ordinary carrier, mudguard, or other part of the vehicle, and a luggage frame connected to the anchorage member so as to hang down on one or both sides of the vehicle wheel, the luggage frame is connected to the anchorage member by telescopic members provided with interposed springs or other shock-absorbers. A pair of U-shaped grippers 12 are spaced along the longitudinal members 10 of the ordinary luggage-carrier on each side, and are adjustably clamped thereto by bolts 13. A depending tubular member 14 is bolted at 15 to each gripper 12 so as to support a luggage frame comprising channel members 16, which embrace the members 14 and carry tubular members 17, 18 adapted to slide respectively on and within the members 14. The channel members 16 are connected together by cross members 21 and a plate 22, and the extremities of the cross members 21 are connected together at each side by a double strap 23, which is adapted to receive straps for securing packages to the luggage frames. Grids 24 are pivoted to the channel members 16 by means of bolts 25 so that they can be swung down for use, as shown on the left-hand side, several bolt-receiving holes 29 being provided for height adjustment. Shock - absorbing connections are provided between the luggage frames and their supports, comprising tension and compression springs 28, 28 , or fluid vibration-dampers &c. The grippers 12 on opposite sides may be adjustably connected together by a sleeve 30. A backing- board may be attached by hooks &c. to one of the cross members 21 to protect books &c. strapped to the auxiliary carrier ; or the backing-board may carry a textile carrier-bag.
