摘要： Disclosed is a process for crosslinking copolymers of acrylic esters by converting some of the ester groups to ester or amide groups which contain unsaturation, and then sulfur or peroxide curing the resulting polymers. The resulting crosslinked polymers often have excellent vulcanizate properties, and are useful especially in elastomeric form as seals and gasket.

摘要： Composite moisture and oxygen barrier structures in the form of films, sheets, tubes and bottles which are composed of foils of high density polyethylene and foils of polar oxygen barrier resins adhered to each other with a coextruded bonding resin composition composed of blends of predominantly high density polyethylene containing low levels of a grafted unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydride and linear low density polyethylenes which are copolymers of ethylene with either octene-1 or butene-1. The preferred dicarboxylic acid anhydride is maleic anhydride. The oxygen barrier resins are preferably ethylene/vinyl alcohol copolymers or amorphous polycarboxylamides from condensation polymerization of aliphatic diamines and aromatic dicarboxylic acids.

In a magnetic tape recording arrangement including feed and take up reels 1, 3, erase and record/playback heads 9, 8 and capstan and pressure roller 5, 6, the take up reel is stopped by brake 12 on commencement of recording or play back and thereafter the tape is accumulated in a store 13 so that on rewind the reverse drive can be switched off either manually or automatically when an indication is obtained that the store 13 is empty and the commencement of the recorded or played back passage is again beneath the heads. The arrangement is particularly for use in teaching machines. The indication may be obtained visually by using a transparent store 13 or the store may be pivoted at 17 and the indication obtained by the pivoting of the store against the action of spring 18 when the tape tension increases or, Fig. 2 (not shown), the increase in tension operates a switch which automatically cuts off the reverse drive. The arrangement may also be provided with means for limiting the amount of tape fed to the store 13.

A driving device for thread-cutting tools adapted for use as an attachment in conjunction with a drilling or tapping machine comprises a driving member 1, Fig. 1, with a shank 2 for insertion in the machine, an intermediate member 3, driven from the member 1 through a friction clutch 4, and the driven tool-carrying member 20. The latter has a grooved stem 19 which can move axially or " float " relatively to the driving and intermediate members, the torque for driving and the axial guiding being effected by balls 15 engaging grooves in the stem 19 and in a pair of sleeve-members 7, 8 secured to the intermediate member. An adjustable nut 24 holds the intermediate member 3 and driving member 1 together and is of opposite " hand " to the thread being cut. A modification includes springs to maintain the driven member in a " floating " position and a " locking " device to give a direct drive from the driving member to the tool-holder.
