Class 3(ii) A showcard comprises a front strip 11 on which is printed a word or words to be displayed and having shading to give the appearance of depth, the front strip being connected to a back-sheet 10 by two hinged sides 12 so that it may either be collapsed flat against the back-sheet or be made to stand out in front, in combination with a top strip 14 hinged to the top of the front strip 11 and adapted to fold down to cover the space between the front strip and back-sheet, the top strip being printed and shaded to give the appearance of the tops of the block letters and being adapted to be connected to the back-sheet to hold the display rigid. The connecting means comprise a tab 15 on the top strip engaging a slot 16 in the back-sheet. The rear edge of the top strip is nicked out as at 17 between the letters to enhance the appearance of solidity. A strut is provided at the rearof the back-sheet.

[Class 3 (ii)] A collapsable advertising device adapted to display a representation of a tin, box or the like and comprising a flexible or scored sheet arranged to represent the outside of the tin or box, and two or more erecting members connected together by a strut and hinged to the said sheet, adapted to move the sheet from a collapsed to a display position, is characterised by the provision of a member connected at two opposite points to the sheet and scored along a line extending transversely between the points of attachment so that said member may either be folded upon itself to bring the flexible or scored sheet to a collapsed position or unfolded so that it lies across the top or adjacent the top of the erected flexible sheet. Figs. 1, 2, shows the invention applied to a device as claimed in Specification 434,888, in which a sheet 16, creased along a line 19, is attached to the flexible sheet 10 and to the erecting member 12 to form the top of the representation. In a modification, the sheet 16 is attached to the sheet 10 at points below the upper edge of this sheet so as to form a representation of a tin with a recessed top.

April 16, 1934, No. 11408. [Class 52 (v)] A collapsable showcard of the kind simulating a tier of packages of progressively increasing size both from front to back and from side to side or a stepped series of shelves of similarly increasing size comprises a back member having a plurality of parts hinged thereto which move simultaneously into a horizontal position when the showcard is erected, said parts being progressively of increasing width and depth and having depending members or being connected with one another by members which lie in spaced vertical planes in the erected position, the vertical sides of the representations being formed by scored strips attached to the front or back of said depending or connecting members. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the back member 10, members 13, 14, 15 and connecting members 16, 17, 18 are formed from a blank, Fig. 5, strips 21, 22, 23 being secured to the front of the members 16, 17, 18 and scored at 24 to form flaps 25, 26, 27 which project through the member 10. The flaps.25, 26 are formed with ears 28, Fig. 2, and the ends 30 of the flaps 27 are scored behind the member 10 and secured to a strut 31 engaging the ears 28. Alternatively, the ends of the flaps 25, 26, 27 may be secured together behind the member 10 by strips secured thereto by scored tabs. The members 16, 17, 18 may be replaced by one or more small depending tabs to which the strips 21, 22, 23 are secured, the members 13, 14, 15 being supported by a stepped strut member described in Specification 434,888, [Group XVIII].

    • 379,074. Advertising models. WARDLE, E., Cunard Building, Liverpool. Aug. 5, 1931, No. 22175. [Class 3 (ii.)] In a collapsable advertising model of the type wherein a member 9 simulating a cylindrical container or like article is projected forwardly from a supporting sheet 7 by means of a hinged strut 15, the member 9 is secured to the face of the sheet 7 opposite to that from which it is projected, but is allowed to move relatively to the sheet 7 or to fold flat partially behind it when the device is not in use by the provision of suitable scorings near the points of attachment. As shown in Fig. 2, the member 9, which is attached to the sheet 7 along the strips 9 and is scored at 10 .. 13, is caused to project through an aperture 8 in the sheet 7 by means of a hinged strut 15 having a semicircular profile. When it is desired to collapse the device, the strut 15 is folded about the lines 16 and the member 9 is folded inwardly about its scorings so that the lines 10, 12 lie against the outer edges of the strips 9 and the member 9 lies flat against the projection 17. A semicircular flap may be provided at the top of the aperture 8 to simulate the lid of the container. In a modification, Fig. 6, the member 9 completely surrounds the member 7, to which it is attached by the flaps 19a, 20a, the member 7 carrying upper and lower hinged flaps 21 which serve to project the front of the member 9 forwardly, and are also provided with projections 23 for engagement with the hinged parts 12 . A fingerhole 18 is provided for operating the members 23 when the device is in the collapsed position.

[Class 3 (ii)] A collapsable advertising device which when erected forms a representation of an article having one or more parts projecting from the top or other part thereof, such as an accumulator or bowl of flowers, is formed with two members hingedly mounted on parallel lines one above the other on a back member or other suitable part of the device, the lower member being provided with hinged parts which project through slots in the upper member and represent the projecting parts of the representation, the arrangement being such that the said parts fold flat with the said hinged members when the device is collapsed and project up from the upper member when the device is erected. Figs. 1, 2, show the application to a device forming a representation of an accumulator in which the body of the accumulator is formed by a scored sheet 13 mounted on a background 10 and base 12. The terminals, filling plugs, &c. are represented by flaps 22 which are hingedly mounted on a member 18 and project through slots in a member 17.

Feb. 9, 1935, No. 4261. Addition to 434,888. [Class 3 (ii)] A plurality of representations as claimed in the parent Specification are constructed in association with a collapsable stand which provides a plurality of horizontal shelves spaced laterally and arranged at different levels, said shelves being disposed immediately below the representations. As shown, representations A, B, C are associated with a stand providing shelves 19, 20, 21 formed from a cardboard blank, Fig. 2, which is scored at 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and cut at 17, 18 so that when its lower edge is placed on a surface and pressure is applied to its upper edge, the main part of the blank forming a backing 10, moves rearwardly and downwardly to form shelves 19, 20, 21. Each representation comprises a flexible sheet 30 attached to the backing 10, and erecting members 31, 32 hinged to the backing and connected together by a strut 33, each strut being attached to the corresponding shelf so that when the shelves are erected, the representations are also erected. A collapsable support is attached to the stand comprising a member 23, Fig. 4, provided with side strips 24, 25 secured to the rear of the backing 10. Hinged extensions 34 are provided on the struts 33 above and below the members 32. Specification 434,892, [Group XIV], is referred to.
