    • A sealing and joining arrangement (49) suitable for use in conjunction with a valve (28) used for delivering a blast of compressed air from a reservoir (20) to a blow-tube (34) of a dust-collector baghouse (39). The arrangement comprises (i) a socket-to-tube interconnection including one seal (48) to adapt the socket to the tube; and (ii) a second compliant seal (42) to adapt either the socket or tube (as required) to a clearance hole (44) of a bulkhead wall (36) of the baghouse. The socket-to-tube part of the arrangement may be applied to either outlet (preferably), inlet or both. The arrangement (49) may facilitate assembly of many valves in a baghouse typical within the dust collector field.

    • A large pilot-operated diaphragm valve (10) adapted to deliver a compressed air pulse from its outlet (16), comprising a valve top (20) and valve trigger assembly (62) co-operative to cycle a diaphragm (18) away from a seat (24) and back to the seat with an accurate response to a timed energisation applied to the valve trigger by an electric solenoid or external pneumatic signal pulse. The valve top and trigger subassembly enclose a reciprocable hollow plunger (60) held against a seat (50) by a reciprocable solid plunger (68) held by spring force and pilot air pressure against a seat (61) positioned at one end of a hole (76) passing axially through the hollow plunger (60). The valve (10) delivers a high energy pulse suitable for shaking dust collector bags or assisting particulate material outflow from tapered outflow material storage hoppers and features an ability to deliver such pulses with less consumption of compressed air than a widely-used known equivalent duty two-stage diaphragm valve.

    • The present invention provides an arrangement for switching a first load (216) from a continuous load meter (214) to an intermittent load meter (226), including a first switch (218) connected in series with the first load (216) and the continuous load meter (214), and a second switch (236) connecting the first load (216) to the mains supply (206,208) via the intermittent load meter (226), wherein the first switch (218) is closed and the second switch (236) is opened when the intermittent load meter (226) is quiescent, and wherein the first switch (218) is opened and the second switch (236) is closed when the intermittent load meter (226) is activated. The present invention also provides a method of switching a load (216) from a continuous load meter (214) to an intermittent load meter (226), including a first switch (218) connected in series with the first load (216) and the continuous load meter (214), and a second switch (236) connecting the first load (216) to the mains supply via the intermittent load meter (226), the method including the steps of: switching the first switch (218) to its closed state, switching the second switch (236) to its opened state when the intermittent supply is quiescent, and switching the first switch (218) to its opened state, and switching the second switch (236) to its closed state when the intermittent load meter (226) is activated.
