    • Method and computing device for the direct numerical calculation of the field of a physical process, preferably the propagation in the time domain of the electrical and magnetic field of a discretised spatial structure, which is described by the distribution of the relative conductivity, permittivity and permeability and of sources. Electromagnetic fields have principally been calculated hitherto by solving large systems of equations. In this case, account frequently has to be taken of the considerably restricted possibilities of varying the structure. The computing times are so considerable that, for example, the calculation of a transient process in the time domain is not practical. The novel computing device makes this possible in a considerably shorter time and for many different structures. The computing device and method calculate the field vectors for the next time step by means of explicit numerical integration element by element. This necessitates only a few logic combinations with other field vectors. This vastly increases the execution speed in conjunction with a high universality. The computing device described above can be used in the design and planning of electrotechnical objects, apparatuses, devices, systems and in the demonstration and teaching of electromagnetic wave propagation.
