    • A fuel lock as part of a venting arrangement for fuel tanks has to ensure that when the fuel tank is on its side, particularly after a lateral rotation of 270.degree., only a legally tolerated fuel quantity can flow out from the vent conduit. The fuel lock has an inlet chamber and an outlet chamber separated from the former by a partition and communicating with its chamber by a connecting conduit. The inlet chamber is connected to a surge tank of the fuel tank by an inlet conduit and the outlet chamber is connected to a vent conduit. In the inlet chamber, the inlet conduit and connecting conduit mouthpiece openings within the chamber and, in the outlet chamber, the connecting conduit and outlet conduit mouthpiece openings within the chamber are located relative to one another such that in the syphon conduit formed by these conduits and passing through the chambers, in each case a break point for the syphon effect is present within the chambers. The inlet conduit mouthpiece opening within the inlet chamber is located above the maximum fuel level in the tank installation attitude and in an attitude when the tank is on its side. The volume of the outlet chamber is larger than that of the inlet chamber and preferably corresponds to at least twice the volume of the outlet conduit.

    • A valve arrangement for ventilating and venting fuel tanks for motor vehicles which includes a vacuum valve, an excess pressure valve as well as a safety valve that interrupts the connection of the interior of the tank with the atmosphere beginning with a predetermined position of the valve arrangement deviating from the installed position. The safety valve includes a mass member displaceably arranged in the housing of the valve arrangement whose weight force is directed opposite the closing force of the excess pressure valve in the normal position of the valve arrangement and which beginning with a predetermined and subsequently continuing housing displacement acts increasingly on the valve closure member. It is assured thereby that the safety valve does not become operable already when the valve arrangement is not accurately installed or when the vehicle stands at an inclination but becomes effective only when it becomes actually necessary for safety reasons, for example, with a lateral roll-over of the vehicle caused by an accident, especially in the overturned position of a motor vehicle.

    • A device for robotizable refuelling of a vehicle includes a docking component which can be installed on a filling tube of a fuel tank of the vehicle for receiving a pistol nozzle, in which the pistol nozzle can be locked, in axial and peripheral directions, and which has a central passage for a fill pipe of the pistol nozzle. The device contains a hollow cylindrical ring carrier element provided with a central passage fastened on an underside of the docking element. A locking ring provided with radially projecting bayonet arms is held against torsion but axially moveable on the ring carrier element. A compression spring is braced between the underside of the locking ring on the one hand and a connection of the ring carrier element. The device can be installed on the edge of the filling tube, which is provided with recesses for passage of bayonet arms of the locking ring at an inlet side to form a bayonet lock. In order to make secure refuelling possible in a simple manner, the ring carrier element carries a coupling ring arranged torsion fast on the filling tube lying on top of the locking ring. Stop structures corresponding to each other are defined on an upper side of the coupling ring and on the underside of the docking element so that the docking element can be fixed on the coupling ring.

    • A fuel tank, especially for motor vehicles, includes two shaped shells which include a shell bottom, shell walls and a continuous shell rim, the shell rims of the shaped shells being adapted to be welded together to thereby form a composite fuel tank structure. At least one of the bottoms of one of the shaped shells which forms one of the side walls of the composite fuel tank structure is provided with reinforcing ribs and an outwardly protruding bulge. Additionally, the bottom of the composite tank structure formed by a wall of one of the shaped shells includes a bulge. The bulges form flexurally soft deformation zone extending generally at right angles to the reinforcing ribs and generally parallel to a portion of the shell rim which extends generally parallel to the bottom of the composite tank for absorbing stresses.
