The roll and rollers extend between opposed side plate 14 and 15 and axes at both ends of the guide rollers 37 and 38 enter into guide slots 34 in the plates to guide the unit for sliding movement between the two positions. Yokes 39 maintain the distance between rollers 37 and 38.

In a machine for applying a liquid coating to lengths of flexible material and of the type comprising a coating roll 24 and a pair of pressure rolls located on opposite sides of and partially below the highest point of the circumference of roll 24, and means for rotatably supporting a roll of material laterally of and parallel to the roll 24, the pressure rolls are journalled in a carriage pivoted about the axis of the roll 33 remote from the support means. Each pressure roll is provided with coaxial stub axles 31, 32 respectively, which engage straight inclined slots 27 and L-shaped slots 28 respectively, these slots being provided on the end plates of the trough. The carriage comprises a pair of inverted V-shaped strips joined together at their apices by a rigid rod or equivalent member. A doctor blade is provided adjacent the coating roll and is adjustably supported on ears provided below the L-shaped slots. A catch 36 is provided for releasably securing the carriage in its operative position. The coating roll preferably comprises a wooden or equivalent rigid core 25 and a soft, resilient, rough surfaced cover 26 of the same length.

An appliance for use in trimming wallpaper while being hung on a wall comprises an angle section strip, wherein the flange 2 is flat and the other, which makes an acute angle with the first, is shaped to form a plurality of flat and relatively inclined portions 3, 4, 5, the free edge of this flange and the heel 6 being located in a plane which is perpendicular to the flat flange. The appliance, which may be made of wood, plastic or metal, is positioned with its shaped flange against the wall and the heel 6, which is provided with corner plates 7, against a fixture such as a door frame. A knife drawn across the angle will trim wallpaper which is laid over the shaped flange so that when the appliance is removed the wallpaper will reach to the edge of the frame. Distance pieces 8 may be rotated to a selected position for use when longer lengths of trimmed wallpaper are required.

摘要： The invention relates to a tyre tread (10) having an outer tread block material (18) or a first colour and an underlying layer (20) comprising a tread block material or a second colour. The second colour is visually distinguishable from the first colour such that when an outer tread block layer (18) is partially worn away, the second colour becomes visible and is indicative of tyre wear. In an alternative embodiment, the tyre tread wear indicator (100, 200) comprises an insert for insertion into a tyre (120). The insert comprises an outer sacrificial layer (106, 206) comprising a material of a first colour; and underlying indicator sacrificial layers (108, 110, 208, 210) comprising a material of a second and a third colour. The second and third colours are visually distinguishable from the first colour and hence indicative of tyre wear. The embodiments of the invention therefore provide an automatic, visually discernible warning to drivers and others of tyre wear, and the extent thereof. The invention therefore greatly enhances vehicle safety.
