摘要： A process for making a wearable, absorbent article is described wherein two longitudinally extending barrier leg cuffs are attached to a chassis and the barrier leg cuffs are joined to the article so that they are directed inwardly toward a longitudinally extending centerline in the first waist region of the article and directed outwardly away from the longitudinally extending centerline in the second waist region of the article. The method describes the cuffs as being first attached in the first waist region and then in the second waist region in one embodiment and, in another embodiment, being attached in the second waist region first and then in the first waist region of the article. A process is also described for making a wearable, absorbent article wherein the barrier leg cuffs are attached to the article outboard of the longitudinally extending centerline in both the first waist and second waist regions of the article and wherein the barrier leg cuffs are joined partially to the article in the crotch region.

The absorbent articles comprise a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet, an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet; a side panel extending laterally from each longitudinal edge of the absorbent article and having a proximal edge and a distal edge; spacing means for spacing the distal edge away from the liquid-receiving surface (topsheet) of the absorbent article; and a closing means for securing the distal edges inboard of the proximal edges in the front waist region. The distal edge of the side panel is secured inboard of the proximal edges in the front waist region and is disposed outboard of the proximal edge in the rear waist region when fitted to the wearer. Thus, the side panels are inflected such that the portion of the side panels in the rear waist region provide a gasketing action about the buttocks of the wearer to contain exudates and a snug fit, while the stand-up portions of the side panels in the crotch region and the closed portion of the side panels in the front waist region provide channels to contain, restrain and hold body exudates.

摘要： An absorbent article having a liquid permeable topsheet, a liquid impermeable backsheet and a liquid absorbent pad for absorbing a liquid exuded from the human body positioned there between, and having an elasticized side flap and an extended wing along each side edge of the absorbent article. The side flap has a loop member formed from either the topsheet or the backsheet, or an optional secondary non-woven sheet, which extends from and loops back toward said side edge of said absorbent pad, and an inserted member formed from a layer which extends from said side edge of said absorbent pad. An elastic material is affixed along a portion of the length of the inserted member, and a seal affixes the inserted member inside the loop member at its base end. The wing can be a separate material or can be formed from one of the layer materials used to form the elasticized flap. The absorbent sanitary article provides improved fit and leakage protection with better comfort.

摘要： The present invention provides a disposable absorbent article such as an incontinent pad that is both comfortable and suitable for absorbing and containing large volumes of bodily liquids without leakage. Such an absorbent article includes a liquid pervious topsheet, a liquid impervious backsheet joined to the topsheet, and an absorbent core positioned between the topsheet and the backsheet. The absorbent core includes a material which expands when wetted. The backsheet includes at least one pleat which is tacked with a liquid soluble adhesive such that when the liquid soluble adhesive is wetted the adhesive dissolves allowing the pleat to expand as the absorbent core expands. The pleats may extend in any direction, but preferably extend either substantially parallel to the longitudinal axis of the article or substantially parallel to the transverse axis of the absorbent article.
