    • An improved pressure plate for glazed panel wall construction is disclosed for retaining a glazing panel in place against a corresponding frame member. A gasket element is bonded to the pressure plate and confronts an exterior marginal portion of the glazing panel to retain the glazing panel in place against the frame member. In the disclosed embodiment, the gasket element is comprised of an elastomeric material which is formed integrally with, and preferably coextruded with, the pressure plate. Also in the disclosed embodiment a compression seal bonded to the pressure plate is interposed between the pressure plate and the frame member to thermally isolate the pressure plate from the frame member and to provide a watertight seal. Again, the compression seal of the disclosed embodiment is formed integrally with, and preferably coextruded with, the pressure plate.

    • A drainage system is disclosed for building framing systems comprising weep holes for draining water from an interior cavity to the exterior of the buildilng. The drainage system comprises a weep valve overlying a weep hole in a frame member which provides a passage for infiltrated water from a glass pocket to the exterior of the building while at the same time preventing air infiltration. The weep valve includes a membrane of an elastomeric or other suitable material having a slit formed therein which permits water to seep out. The slit seals sufficiently tightly that, when the framing system is under windload, airflow back through the weep hole is substantially eliminated. Since water infiltration is a result of air infiltration, water infiltration is thus also substantially eliminated.

    • A safety lock for a window mounted for pivotal movement about a centrally disposed vertical axis embodies a lock assembly housing mounted on the window sill intermediate the vertical axis and a window jamb. An elongated vertically extending locking member mounted on the lock assembly housing is movable selectively to a locked position with its upper end adjacent the housing and to an unlocked position with its upper end spaced from the housing. A latch assembly housing is mounted on the lower portion of the window intermediate the vertical axis and a vertical side frame member. A connector arm is pivotally connected at one end to a lower portion of the latch assembly housing with its other end engaging the locking member to permit pivotal movement of the window selectively to a closed position and to a limited open position. The locking member is moved to its unlocked position by a release element which permits the connector arm to be disengaged from the locking member and permits the window to pivot toward a reversed position.
