摘要： A mobile wireless communications device includes a display, and a memory configured to store a plurality of applications and corresponding application data for each application. The mobile wireless communications device also includes at least one input device, and a processor. The processor is configured to search the application data for a search term to thereby determine whether each application of the plurality thereof has search results associated therewith, and present applications having search results associated therewith on an application selection screen, without displaying the search results, on the display. The processor is further configured to receive selection of an application of the plurality thereof via the at least one input device, and execute the selected application to thereby present the search results on the display.

摘要： A system and a method are provided managing services associated with a mobile device. It includes detecting a new identity module card is in the mobile device; receiving a username ID and a password on the mobile device; and upon verifying that the username ID and the password are identical to a previous username ID and a previous password associated with the mobile device, the mobile device enabling access to the services. In another aspect, after detecting a new identity module card, and if an input is received to associate a new username ID and a new password with the mobile device, then the services are erased from the mobile device.

摘要： A method and apparatus for searching message data in a portable electronic device are provided. A threaded message inbox is provided at a display of the device, the message data grouped as threads. Search criteria are received and a search of an index of the threaded message inbox is initiated using the search criteria, the index comprising key words extracted from the message data. Additional message data is received while the search is being performed, the additional message data belonging to a given thread. Additional message data is searched in addition to the index. Search results are generated based on whether at least one of data from additional message data and data from the index meets the search criteria. Search results are provided in threads at the display. Search results are automatically updated in response to receiving additional message data when the additional message data meets the search criteria.

摘要： A device, which may have a touchscreen display, and methods for its operation are provided using a graphical user interface and an overlay user input interface such as a virtual keyboard. The graphical user interface may include one or more user interface elements displayed in a first region of the display that are actuatable to invoke a corresponding function. When the virtual keyboard is invoked for display in the same region, the underlying graphical user interface is redrawn with a further user interface element corresponding to at least one of the user interface elements previously displayed in the first region, so that the further user interface element is actuatable to invoke a command to carry out the corresponding function. In another embodiment, the virtual keyboard may be modified instead to provide an action key corresponding to a function related to an application executing on the device.
