    • A device for controlling an actuator includes an input interface that receives a plurality of input signals including a setpoint command signal and a feedback signal. An output interface provides a drive signal to the actuator. First, second, and third redundant loop controllers processes the setpoint command signal and the feedback signal to generate respective actuator control signals. A primary controller compares the actuator control signals to determine whether at least two are substantially similar. The device outputs the drive signal to the actuator according to an actuator control signals that has been determined by the primary controller to be substantially similar to another. Any one of the redundant loop controllers is hot swappable with a replacement loop controller such that loop controller redundancy is operatively maintained by the device in controlling the actuator while one of the redundant loop controllers is hot swapped.

    • Magnetic alignment marks are recorded on a recording surface of a magnetic hard disk to mark the location where the disk is abutted against the hub of the spindle of a multiple-disk servo-writer. The alignment marks for each recording surface may be different so as to distinguish between top and bottom disk surfaces so that when the discs are assembled onto the spindle of a disk drive they may be assembled with the proper orientation, i.e., the top surface is mounted “up.” The marks may be large, low frequency patterns that are both written and detected by non contact means other than the servo-track writer's or the disk drive's heads.

    • Implementations of an air conditioner compressor cover are provided. In some implementations, the air conditioner compressor cover may comprise a first piece of material sized to cover a first portion of a top opening of an air conditioner compressor unit and a second piece of material sized to cover a second portion of the top opening of the air conditioner compressor unit. A portion of a first side of the first piece of material is connected to the air conditioner compressor unit with hinges and a portion of a first side of the second piece of material is connected to the air conditioner compressor with hinges on opposing sides of the air conditioner compressor unit such that when air is not blowing out of the top opening of the air conditioner compressor unit, a second side of the first piece of material and a second side of the second piece of material rest adjacent to each other and when air begins to blow out of the top opening of the air conditioner compressor unit, the first piece of material rotates about its hinges in a first direction and the second piece of material rotates about its hinges in a second direction that is opposite from the first direction.
