Deformable retainer head 36 of the strip 24 is engaged with eyelet 18 by pressing it therethrough, and the support panel 12 can be used on its own, if desired. Seat base 10 and support panel 12 may be swung into a folded-up position for carrying by hand hole 44.

Pistons, cooling.-Some of the air from the upper pump chamber may pass through a non-return valve, a pipe 29 and duct 30 to a chamber formed within the cover 26. This air can then pass through pipes 24 into the interior of the upper piston 4 flowing thence into the casing interior to form part of the charge.

Grab-buckets.-Relates to single-chain grabs of the kind in which the lower shaft approaches the grab-head during closing and the upper and lower shafts are automatically maintained at their full distance apart for lowering after discharging, and consists chiefly in replacing the usual ball release by a pin-and-slot linkage device which controls the angular position of the suspending-hook. The buckets 1 are suspended from the upper shaft 3 by the usual links 4 and are also provided with short links 10 connected by a pin 11. The suspending-hook 8 has at one side a depending arm 12 carrying the upper sheave 6, and at the other side a second depending arm 13 having a curved slotted extension 14 engaging the pin 11. In operation, when lifting with the buckets closed, the suspending-hook is so inclined that it engages with the opening-ring 9. The chain is then slackened to allow the buckets to open and discharge, and the pin 11 travels up the slot 14 and engages in the terminal recess 14 , so holding the hook vertical and disengaged. After lowering the bucket to the ground, the pin is released by slackening the chain, so that on winding in the rope, the pin travels down the slot to the original position. In a modification, a rocking lever 15, Fig. 6, is mounted on the pin, the lever having a notched end adapted to engage a locking-stud 16 on the suspending-hook, and a looped end 15 through which the chain passes.
