摘要： The spring trip assembly has lever mechanism between the shank and the compression spring which causes the trip-out force of the shank to drop shar ply once the relatively high, initial trip-out force level has been reached, thus per mitting the shank to slide up and over obstructions without breakage. The compression sp ring is actuated from both ends simultaneously as the shank rises so that although t he trip force drops off quickly, energy also builds up quickly in the spring. Thus, the tr ip force does not drop as low as it otherwise would, assuring that ample return force is a vailable to reset the shank down into the soil in its working position. Various componen ts of the assembly can be removed and replaced easily without disassembling the entire unit from the tool bar.

Window opening and closing apparatus.-To the bottom of the rail of the lower sash are pivoted two metal l o o p s i, Fig. 2, which engage with the catches k on the window frame and serve both as lifts and fasteners. On the top rail of the lower sash is pivoted the bent lever A, the long arm b of which is weighted at the end. The stop-piece B, Fig. 3, fixed to the upper sash, by coming in contact with the short arm a of the lever A prevents the upper sash from being lowered more than suffices for ventilation without first raising the lower sash. By so doing, the lever A is allowed to fall back free of the stop B. The pin C, consisting of a metal tube through which a screw passes fixing it to the window frame, returns the lever A to its locking position when the lower sash is shut down. In Fig. 6 is shown another form of pin C. In a modification described in the Provisional Specification, a groove is provided in the stile of the upper sash, with which the arm a of the lever engages instead of with the stop-piece B, and the arm a is spring jointed. It is also stated that the pin C can be arranged to be moved out of the way, when desired.
