    • An intraurethral magnetic valve (1) has a housing (2) having a fluid inlet (10) and outlet apertures (13) between which are disposed a valve element (7) having a cylindrical magnet (8), a fixed nonferromagnetic valve seat (5), a movable ferromagnetic valve seat (4) having an aperture (32), and a spring (6). The valve element (7) is normally held against the valve seat (4) by magnetic attraction to occlude aperture (32), and the spring (6) is normally positioned to hold the valve seats (4,5) against each other. The valve seat (4) is movable away from the valve seat (5) responsive to hydrostatic pressure of fluid to enable spontaneous fluid discharge. The valve element (7) responsive to externally applied magnetic force (50) moves from occluding aperture (32) to enable selective fluid discharge. The housing (2) may be installed in a stent (60) implantable in the urethra. A tool (12) is attachable to the housing (2) by flanges (11) about the outlet aperture (13) for use in manipulating the housing in the urethra. The tool (12) is also useful for other intraurethral devices with similar flanged aperture.

    • A restraint system for a transportation vehicle may comprise a restraint member movably mounted to the vehicle. The restraint member may have a first leg and a second leg that travel together along opposite sides of a seat carried by the vehicle as the restraint member moves relative to the vehicle. A restraint harness may include a retractor that may be mounted to one of the first and second legs, and a lap web having one end mounted within the first retractor and an opposite end mounted to the other of the first and second legs. The lap web may be configured to restrain an occupant of the seat when the restraint member is moved to an occupant restraint position. At least one lock may be mounted to the vehicle and configured to secure the restraint member to the vehicle when the restraint member is in the occupant restraint position.

    • A system for implanting a catheter in a urethra. The system includes a catheter having a valve disposed at a distal portion of the catheter. The valve may be operable in response to an external magnetic field. The system also includes a tool having a tip member extending into an opening at the distal portion of the catheter to couple the tool to the catheter, the system also includes an element extending from the tool. The catheter has an internal path that provides a conduit for the element to be extended through the valve to engage a proximal portion of the catheter. The tool is adapted use the element to stress the catheter and stiffen the catheter along the length of the catheter. Stiffening the catheter facilitates implantation of the catheter in the urethra by enabling pull forces, push forces, and torque forces to be transmitted from the tool through the catheter to the proximal portion of the catheter without undue stress on the urethra. The element is extendible and retractable to position the catheter between stressed and relaxed states while maintaining engagement to the catheter proximal portion. The tool, element and tip member are removable from the catheter after implantation of the catheter in the urethra.
