    • Disclosed are cross-layer optimization method where information about lots of dynamic changes in wireless environment is shared and cross-layer optimization is implemented and abstraction layer component. Multimedia transmission layer operating method where optimization of first layer and second layer is implemented by using service information provided from first layer having transmission layer and network layer and second layer lower than datalink layer. The operating method includes upward abstraction step where service information provided to second layer is processed and processed service information is provided to multimedia transmission layer and downward abstraction step where indication information provided from multimedia transmission layer is processed and processed service information is provided to second layer. Consequently, there is advantage that all layers share diverse information about lots of dynamic changes in wireless environment, and the diverse information can be controlled to allow transmission where QoS is ensured more effectively.

    • Motion vector for input coding unit is generated, motion compensation is performed on the basis of generated motion vector to generate prediction signal, weight parameter is generated on prediction unit basis, weight parameter is applied to the prediction signal to generate prediction macro block, and residue value is generated on the basis of received coding unit and the prediction block. The same motion parameter is allocated to the merged blocks, and the blocks are transmitted to decoder. Image encoding/decoding method selects interpolating filters to be used in inter-frame prediction based on motion compensation, for units more precise than picture unit, wherein said more precise units include at least one of slice unit and partition unit, and calculates sub-pixel values. According to present invention, quality of encoded image can be improved, and efficiency of encoding high resolution images having resolution higher than high definition (HD) class can be improved.

    • Disclosed is a processing method which enables natural reproduction in the event an expression switch occurs during an HTTP streaming transmission. The method involves: receiving a first media information file which stores information regarding segments in the event no expression switch occurs, and a second media information file which stores information regarding segments in the event an expression switch occurs; and receiving and reproducing segments of the content to be received with reference to the first information in the event no expression switch occurs, and receiving and reproducing segments of the content to be received with reference to the second information in the event an expression switch occurs. Thus, multimedia content may be provided without screen stoppage errors arising from changes in the dynamic environment of a channel.

    • Discussed is a processing method which enables natural reproduction upon the occurrence of representation switching during the transmission of an HTTP stream. The method includes: constructing, for a first representation, a plurality of segments including base layer of scalable video coding, constructing, for a second representation with a higher resolution than the first representation, a plurality of segments including enhanced layer of scalable video coding, and transmitting at least one of at least a part of the plurality of segments for the first representation and at least a part of the plurality of segments for the second representation, when transmitting the second representation. Only base layers may be extracted from the second representation and used as a reference in decoding low bit-rate segments to be reproduced in the future, thus multimedia content can be seamlessly displayed upon the occurrence of representation-switching.
