    • An account authentication service where a trusted party verifies an account holder's identity for the benefit of a requestor during an online transaction. The account authentication involves requesting a password from the account holder, verifying the password, and notifying the requestor whether the account holder's authenticity has been verified. An alternative embodiment of the account authentication service includes a value-adding component where information about a customer is shared with a value-adding party. The customer information is rich in detail about the customer since it is collected by each of the parties in the account authentication process. The value-adding party can then use this information in various manners. All of the parties involved can benefit from sharing the customer information. The value-adding party can be, for example, a merchant, a shipper, a security organization, or a governmental organization. A transaction identifier identifies a specific transaction between a customer, a merchant, and the customer information.

    • A method is provided for detecting a threat in a distributed multi-camera surveillance system. The method includes: monitoring movement of an object in a field of view of a first camera using software installed at the first camera; detecting a suspicious object at the first camera when movement of the object does not conform with a motion flow model residing at the first camera; sending a tracking request from the first camera to a second camera upon detecting the suspicious object at the first camera; monitoring movement of the object in a field of view of the second camera using software installed at the second camera; assigning threat scores at the second camera when the movement of the object does not conform with a motion flow model residing at the second camera; and generating an alarm based in part on the threat scores detected at the first camera and the second camera.

    • A serial peripheral interface memory module using address cache comprises a flash memory array for storing data, a serial/parallel convertor for receiving serial signals and generating a control command, an address and data, an address register, an address accumulator for accumulating the address in the address register and storing the accumulated address back to the address register, and a flash memory controller for controlling the access to the flash memory array. When the control command is a standard command, the serial/parallel controller first stores the address following the control command into the address register and then the flash memory controller accesses data according to the address in the address register. When the control command is a specific command, the flash memory controller directly accesses data according to the address in the address register without waiting for an address update.
