摘要： Low-particulate dihydric aromatic compounds such as bisphenol-A that can be used in the synthesis of low-particulate polycarbonates are prepared by introducing into a desorber column containing a non-aggregate packing material an adduct of bisphenol and phenol and optionally a stripping gas. The column is maintained at an operating temperature that is sufficiently high and an operating pressure that is sufficiently low such that the adduct is distilled. The stream of phenol and the stripping gas is recovered from the top of the column. A second stream containing bisphenol that is substantially free of added particulate matter is recovered from the bottom of the column. This purified stream of bisphenol-A can further be used in a method of producing optical-grade polycarbonate.

In one embodiment, an implantable port is provided and includes a base adapted to be anchored to tissue, and a housing pivotally mounted on the base and having a septum formed therein and adapted to receive fluid and to provide access to a fluid reservoir formed within the housing. In an exemplary embodiment, the housing can be pivotally mounted to the base using a ball and socket joint. For example, at least one of a distal surface of the housing and a proximal surface of the base is convex, and the other one of the distal surface of the housing and the proximal surface of the base is concave.

In one such method, a first source file contains source code in a software programming language and a second source file contains HDL source code translated from the source code in the first source file. The second source file excludes assertions translated from the source code in the first source file. This method comprises the steps of: reading a software assertion from from the first source file; locating a second block within the second source file, where the second block corresponds to a first block that contains the software assertion; mapping the software assertion to a hardware assertion expressed in the HDL; determining a location within the second block for insertion of the hardware assertion; and inserting the hardware assertion at the determined location within the second source file.

摘要： A light transmission system includes a laser, an optical fiber, and a transfer lens. The transfer lens transfers light emitted by the laser into the optical fiber. The transfer lens includes a diffractive surface for receiving and collimating the light originating form the laser. The diffractive surface is defined by a surface function that includes a first phase function having angular symmetry and a second phase function having radial symmetry. The second phase function includes a cusp region with a discontinuous slope therein. The transfer lens provides reflection management so that light reflected from the end of the optical fiber is not focused at a location at which light is emitted by the laser and also favorable launch conditions so that light launched into the optical fiber avoids index anomalies along the axis of the optical fiber.

摘要： For each channel in a parallel channel optical array, a diffractive optical arrangement (DOA) includes an input region that is configured to pass a first portion of an input beam to an output region for data transmissions and to diffract and direct a second portion to a detection region for monitoring. The input region includes the diffractive features of a computer generated hologram (CGH) or a grating for diffracting. Alternatively, the input region is coupled to the CGH or grating. Moreover, the DOA includes at least one reflective region for redirecting the second portion. In one embodiment, the DOA includes a separate active surface for each channel of the array. Alternatively, the DOA has a singular active surface that is positioned to interact with all the channels. Optical power output from the second portion is monitored to generate feedback signals for adjusting the input current to each laser. Additionally, optical power output from sensed temperature is monitored to generate feedback signals.

摘要： A method of updating a supply plan used to process customer requests in an available-to-promise (ATP) system. In one embodiment the method comprises updating a model of a supply chain process for one or more products sold by the ATP system and copying a current supply plan used by the ATP system to process customer requests to create a second supply plan. Thereafter, a first plurality of customer requests is received and orders from the requests are processed by the ATP system against the current supply plan while running the updated model of the supply chain process with the second supply plan as part of a process that creates a new supply plan. After the new supply plan is created, the new supply plan is synchronized with the old supply plan by synchronizing orders from the first plurality of customer requests scheduled against the old supply plan into the new plan while order promising continues against the old plan. The synchronizing process is stopped prior to synchronizing every one of the orders in the first plurality of requests into the new supply plan. Thereafter, all remaining orders from the first plurality of requests not synchronized during the synchronizing process are synchronized into the new supply plan while the ATM system temporarily stops promising orders. After the remaining orders from the first plurality of requests are synchronized, old supply plan is replaced by the new supply plan so that the ATP system processes future customer requests against the new supply plan.
