    • A hybrid lens (10) includes a plastic lens (12) and a glass coating film (14). The plastic lens is manufactured by injection molding. The glass coating film is formed on an outer surface of the plastic lens and encloses the outer surface of the plastic lens. The coating film comprises a single layer of glass material or a plurality of layers of glass material. The glass coating film is deposited on the outer surface of the plastic lens by vacuum deposition. The hybrid lens reduces chromatic aberration and provides improved image quality for an imaging system. A method for making the hybrid lens is also provided.

    • A lens system (10) includes a main lens (12) having a first surface (12a) and a second surface (12b) configured opposite to each other, a first film lens (11) and a second film lens (13) respectively secured on the first surface and the second surface of the main lens. The first film lens and/or the second film lens are radial gradient index lenses, which refractive index progressively decreases from the centers to the outmost sides. All of the main lens, the first film lens and the second film lens are converging lens, and the axles of them are overlapped one to another.

    • An embodiment of a complex lens (1) includes a central substrate (10), two opposite glass layers (12), and two opposite IR-cut layers (13). The substrate is made of transparent plastic, such as polycarbonate or polymethyl methacrylate. The glass layers are deposited on opposite surfaces of the substrate. The IR-cut layers are deposited on surfaces of the glass layers. The substrate has a spherical or an aspheric surface. The IR-cut layers have a function of filtering infrared rays, thereby improving the image-forming quality of the complex lens. The substrate is typically made of polycarbonate or polymethyl methacrylate. The glass layers are typically made of ZrO2—Y2O3 or SiC. Each IR-cut layer includes a plurality of films of Ti2O3 and SiO2.

    • A light guide plate (120) includes an incidence surfaces (121), an emission surface (123) adjoining the incidence surface, and a bottom surface (122) adjoining the incidence surface and being opposite to the emission surface. The light guide plate further includes a refractive-diffractive hybrid lens array (124) formed on the emission surface. The refractive-diffractive hybrid lens array has a plurality of refractive-diffractive hybrid lenses (125). The refractive-diffractive hybrid lenses can reduce or even avoid chromatic aberration along axes thereof. This can converge emitted light beams, thereby enhancing a brightness of the emitted light beams. Thus, the light guide plate can provide good display quality. Therefore, the light guide plate can be advantageously applied in backlight modules (210) of liquid crystal display devices.
