[Classes 52 (i) .and 52 (ii)] [Also in Groups X and XVII] A box or like container, partition, housing or article of furniture comprises a number of panels 12 each having V-shaped flanges 21, 22 and frame members 11 having V-shaped grooves 18 each with an overhanging shoulder 15a. In use the flanges 21, 22 are snapped into the grooves 18 and are retained therein by the engagement of the edges of the flanges 22 beneath the shoulders 15a. A finishing strip 25 may be sprung into position so as to provide a substantially flush curved edge to the container &c. The outer limb 17 of the member 11 may have a curved flange 19, as in Fig. 2, or alternatively, may be straight, the flange 21 meeting the panel 12 in a sharp corner. The outer limb 17 may be bent back towards the inner limb to form a locking flange, so that where the panel is used as a removable closure a tightly sealed joint is provided. The frame members 11 may be mounted mutually at right angles to form a corner upon three similar angle pieces 31 cut from sheet metal and bent to form wings 32 which are nested together as shown in Fig. 11. A spherical corner cap may be sprung over the assembled ends of the frame members. A double wall container may be provided by arranging spacing members 35 to engage in oppositely disposed frame members 15, Fig. 14. The frame members 15b may be constructed to join panels to form a single larger panel.

Producing intermittent audible signals; visible non-luminous signals.-The gravitational action of a number of successively falling bodies such as rollers or balls of steel, lead or other material is utilized to actuate devices to produce a noise, a light, or a movement to scare birds or vermin or to give warning, the interval between the successive falls being controlled by clock mechanism. In the form shown a casing, preferably of grotesque appearance, is fitted internally with a board 4 surrounded by a hollow coil 5 containing steel balls 6. A clock 9 is mounted on the board and its seconds arbor 10 carries a pin wheel controlling the escape of the balls from the lower end of the coil 5. As each ball escapes it drops on cupped portions of rocking arms 49, 53 and thence into a drawer 55 at the bottom of the casing. Electric circuits are completed through contacts on the arbor 10, so that in addition to the rocking of the arm 49, 53 produced by the balls, an electric bell is rung and electric lamps are lighted intermittently. The light may be directed on the rocking arms. The pin wheel may be replaced by a gate wheel or by a wheel having a number of curved depressions in its periphery to receive the balls. A number of such wheels may be arranged to operate in series. The balls may be arranged to run down a track and fall upon a trigger or like device that fires a detonator. In other modifications the balls strike bells or metal discs or actuate a bellows connected to a whistle, reed, or horn.
