摘要： A cylindrical shaped mandrel (220) is used as a support inside the sleeve of tubular knit fabric (300), for maintaining the cylindrical shape of the fabric (300) during extraction and compacting processes. Encasing the fabric (300) and the mandrel (220) is a larger diameter cylindrical ring member (210) which presses the fabric (300) against the mandrel (220) in order to perform the extraction and compaction processes. The ring member (210) extends for some distance in the longitudinal direction of travel of the knit fabric (300) and contains a mechanism, such as a detent (215), for retaining the mandrel (220) in place. A rope of tubular fabric (300) is conveyed into the mandrel/ring assembly by an endless conveyor or belt (225) made from a flexible material such as rubber. As the fabric (300) is fed onto the mandrel (220), the belt (225) forms a cylindrical sleeve around the fabric (300) and the mandrel (220) and is compressed by the cylindrical ring (210).

摘要： The present invention provides a method of delivering a functional agent across the blood brain barrier so that the functional agent is delivered into the brain of the subject, the method comprising the step of administering a polymeric capsule associated with said functional agent to the subject whereby the polymeric capsule crosses the blood brain barrier and wherein the polymeric capsule is from 300 nm to 2000 nm in diameter and comprises a polymeric shell defining an internal cavity. Further provided is a method of delivering a polymeric capsule across the blood brain barrier. The present invention also provides a polymeric capsule, or a polymeric capsule associated with a functional agent, which is suitable for use in a method of the present invention.

摘要： The invention relates to phase transfers of nanoparticles and to a catalysis using said nanoparticles. The aim of the invention is to facilitate a transfer of nanoparticles from an organic solution to an inorganic, especially, aqueous solution. To this end, a generically describable substance class, for example the commercially available 4-dimethylaminopyridine (DMAP), which is for example dissolved in water, is added to the organic solution in sufficient amounts. This measure has the effect that the nanoparticles are readily transferred in a one-step process from the organic phase (in each case in the top section) to the inorganic phase (in each case in the lower section) in the sample container.

摘要： The present invention is directed to methods for providing a polyelectrolyte multilayer film at a liquid-liquid interface. Such methods include steps of sequentially-depositing layers of cationic and anionic polyelectrolytes at a liquid- liquid interface that is formed between immiscible first and second liquids whereby a polyelectrolyte multilayer film is provided at the liquid-liquid interface. In certain preferred embodiments, the first liquid is an aqueous solution and the second liquid is a liquid crystal. In alternative embodiments, the first liquid is an aqueous solution and the second liquid is an oil. The invention further encompasses polyelectrolyte multilayer films provided by the disclosed methods as well as applications utilizing such materials.
