    • The present invention relates to a bipolar electrode pair/separation membrane assembly comprising: a bipolar electrode pair-adhesive film assembly which includes a bipolar electrode pair for forming an electrode layer that contains active materials which may have different polarities in the central part of both upper and lower sides of a current collector plate, and an adhesive film formed on one side or upper and lower sides of four sides of an uncoated current collector plate that does not include the electrode layer in the bipolar electrode pair, relative to at least two or more sides; and a separation membrane which is laminated on one side or both upper and lower sides of the bipolar electrode pair-adhesive film assembly. Further, the invention provides a bipolar electrode pair/separation membrane assembly, a bipolar battery including the bipolar electrode pair/separation membrane assembly, and a production method thereof wherein the current collector plate and the separation membrane are directly bonded by the adhesive film, thereby sealing the bipolar electrode pair. According to the present invention, since the bipolar electrode pair and the separation membrane assembly are electrically connected according to the usage purpose, it is possible to provide the battery with desirable capacity and desirable voltages.

    • The present invention relates to an electrode for a lithium secondary battery with high energy density, and to a high energy density secondary battery using same. The present invention relates to an electrode for a lithium secondary battery, wherein a negative electrode contains a material to be made into a lithium alloy, and a positive electrode comprises a transition metal oxide which reversibly occludes and releases lithium. The secondary battery of the present invention has a total reversible lithium storage capacity larger than the lithium capacity releasable from the positive electrode. Either one of or both the positive electrode and the negative electrode has a surface on which metal lithium is deposited. The present invention also relates to a method for manufacturing the electrode, and to a lithium secondary battery comprising the electrode. The lithium secondary battery of the present invention has no metal lithium remaining after activation, thereby achieving improved safety and capacity per unit weight.

    • A thin and wide area lithium ion secondary battery is disclosed. The lithium ion secondary battery has a container having a flange extended outwardly from a region where a terminal is located in the container, and constituted by a can and a cap having preferred shapes, respectively, wherein the flange of the cap is welded at an outer surface of the flange to an outer surface of the flange of the cap by means of micro-arc welding. According to the present invention, a cooling jig can be easily installed to the container, allowing efficient removal of problems caused by heat upon welding, resulting in allowing application of micro-arc welding thereto without generating damage of the interior or the battery caused by heat. Accordingly, more economical and stable butt welding can be performed, thereby remarkably reducing defect occurrence rates causing leakage problem of the resulting battery, and manufacturing costs of the lithium secondary battery.
