摘要： This invention introduces an absorption vapor pressure enhancement operation. In the process, a mass of solvent vapor is absorbed into an absorbing solution under a first pressure and an equivalent amount of second vapor is produced under a second pressure that is substantially higher than the first pressure. The pressure enhancement is accomplished by the dilution of the absorbing solution. A vapor pressure enhancement operation (98, 99) applied to a low pressure vapor is functionally equivalent to compressing a low pressure vapor. By using a multiple stage pressure enhancement operation (98, 99), a very high level of temperature lifting of heat can be accomplished. The process can be adopted in processes in which low pressure vapors are generated. Examples are freeze drying processes and multiple phase transformation processes such as Vacuum Freezing Processes, Eutectic Freezing Processes and Distillative Freezing Processes.

摘要： A wet and dry distillative freezing process is provided which comprises (a) a first step of transforming a liquid feed mixture into a first solid-liquid mixture, denoted as K-1 mixture, by either a conventional freezing operation or a wet distillative freezing operation, (b) a second step of washing the K-1 mixture with a wash liquid to thereby form a second solid-liquid mixture, denoted as Ko mixture, and an impure liquid Lo, and (c) a third step of subjecting the Ko mixture to a dry distillative freezing operation to thereby form a mass of refined solid phase, denoted as S1, and a low pressure vapor V1. Various wash liquids may be used in the crystal washing step. It is important to note that the wash liquid used does not have to be a pure liquid but may contain some volatile impurities. This is so, because the volatile impurities in the wash liquid will be taken up in the Ko mixture and will be removed in the dry distillative freezing step. Convenient wash liquids to use are (a) a mass of the feed liquid, (b) a mass of the condensate liquid, and (c) a part of the product liquid. One may also use a solution containing the crystallizing component and a selected volatile component as a wash liquid.

摘要： A VPE-chiller comprises multiple pressure processing zones and is based on absorption vapor pressure enhancement operation. It comprises multitude of processing zones, Z-1, Z-2, ..., Z-N that are operated under pressure P1, P2, ..., PN. Each pressure zone (Z-n) contains a water evaporation zone (Z-En), a vapor pressure enhancement zone (Z-VPEn) and a second vapor condensing zone (Z-Xn). There are a set of rotating discs (11) to provide water evaporation surfaces in the evaporation zone; there are flat heat conductive tubes for forming falling films of absorbing solution and falling films of water in the vapor pressure enhancement zone (9); there are condenser tubes (13) in the condensation zone (10). A first vapor is absorbed and second vapor is generated in the enhancement zone (9); the second vapor is condensed in the condensing zone (10). Outdoor air, cooling water or air/water combination is used to remove the heat of condensation. The construction and operations of a VPE-heater is similar to that of a VPE-chiller.
